I purchased my chevy volt on 8/17/2022. Early to mid November 2022 the check engine light appeared on the dash. It was determined the EGR valve needed to be replaced. I took the vehicle to Ferman Chevy Tampa on 11/21/2022. They replaced the EGR valve and we paid $1346.07 for the work completed. Then late December 2022 - Early January 2023 the check engine light appeared once again on the dash. It was determined that the EGR valve placed in the vehicle was a faulty part and the volt needed a new EGR valve. We waited approximately 1 month for the repair. Early November 2023 the check engine light came on once again. After inspection it was determined that once again a faulty EGR valve was placed in the vehicle. This is the 3rd time the same issue has occurred in a year. Today is Monday 2/26/2024 and volt has yet to be repaired, that is nearly 3 months! Apparently the part is not available and GM has no idea when it will be available. We were recently told possibly 2025. My husband came across some information stating that 1,600 people are currently waiting for an EGR valve for their Chevy Volt and that 2,000 have been ordered, but no one knows when they will arrive and after 3 EGR valvles going bad in one year even if the part becomes available I don't know if that will fix the problem or if it will just happen again. The car is inoperable for any long distance driving. We paid $26,431.83 for this vehicle a little over a year ago and its basically inoperable with solution from Chevy or GM. Aside from this issue I love my Chevy Volt. Its actually the 3rd one I have owned, but this is not fair to me as the consumer when they cannot reslove the issue. Thank you for you consideration in this matter.

EGR valve failed. This can cause the Volt to stall in traffic. No ETA on replacement. The situation seriously limits driving ability. Reduced propulsion and engine light came up. f3 fuse blew related to failed EGR. This is a known issue with Chevy Volts. It was checked out by dealership in Aug. They replaced fuse and basically said can only drive on electric. If turns over to gas it could cause major problems.

The EGR valve had failed, causing a check engine light, which turned into a blown fuse. The fuse blowing left the vehicle stranded until I unplugged the EGR valve and replaced the fuse. I drove it to a shop, where they replaced the valve and the car has been functional since then.

Sudden failure of exhaust gas recirculation valve resulted in unexpected significant power loss on limited access highway and immediate loss of speed and acceleration. Driver was able to move to side of road with care and proceed in "limp home" mode. No warning lights activated prior to this event. Event could have been catastrophic if it occurred during heavy traffic conditions. Occupants could have been trapped in vehicle stuck in left or middle lane with no way to safely merge into oncoming high speed traffic. Car is available for inspection. GM dealer has provided the diagnosis of repair and suggested replacement of ERG valve and ERG valve cooler. This is a known defect and GM is unable to provide timely delivery of replacement parts. Waiting period of up to six months was predicted by GM dealer. Driver reports posted on internet forums reflect many Volt drivers reporting these same events and concerns.

Recall work was performed by dealer for EVAP pipe. Insulative repair was used because pipe had not worn through. This was advised to me from dealer that performed recall work. June 2023 took vehicle to dealer due to check engine light being on. Was advised that insulation that was applied to resolve recall had "slipped" causing EVAP to develop a hole and was needing to be replaced at this point. Opened case with GM with no resolution due to failed recall work. Did not feel I should be responsible for labor due to failure of their recall fix.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Volt. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the engine valves. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 84,000.

I am writing to report a series of safety concerns regarding my 2017 Chevy Volt, which have persisted despite multiple attempts to address them with the dealership. These issues pose significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. On January 18th, 2024, I brought my vehicle to the Provo Utah Chevrolet dealer after experiencing reduced propulsion power while driving on the highway, coupled with the illumination of the check engine light. The mechanic performed a quick inspection and used a GM scan tool to diagnose the issue, revealing the code P1E00 for the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2, which was cleared without a thorough investigation. I was advised to return if the issue reoccurred. Despite the reset, the problem persisted, and on February 9th, 2024, I scheduled another appointment due to my Chevy Volt's High Voltage battery charging only to 65% capacity despite indicating a full charge. However, upon arriving for the appointment at 4:00 PM, I was informed that the hybrid mechanic had left for the day, and I was asked to return on another day. Subsequently, on February 11th, 2024, the check engine light illuminated again, and on February 12th, 2024, while driving to work, I experienced a loss of propulsion power on the highway, placing my safety at risk. These ongoing issues with propulsion power and the high-voltage battery charging system are not only inconvenient but also potentially dangerous. Despite multiple visits to the dealership and attempts to diagnose and resolve the problem, it persists, indicating a systemic issue that requires immediate attention. I urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to investigate this matter thoroughly to ensure the safety of Chevy Volt drivers and passengers. It is imperative that General Motors addresses these issues promptly and implements appropriate measures to prevent further incidents.

Took Vehicle into the local auto store to scan a engine alert and the error came up as P1E00 Hybrid Powertrain Control Module or the BECM (battery energy control module). After looking the error code up and researching online, found that many of the same symptoms are happening. The car wonts start intermittently and a message saying there is a power loss. last night the message came up and even though the battery showed full charge, it was running on Gas and only capable to speeds around 40-45 mph.

The EGR Valve on the vehicle went bad, causing the vehicle to display 'propulsion reduce' and 'engine not available' errors on the dashboard before the vehicle came to a stop while driving on an interstate. Searching this issue for the Chevrolet Volt online yields a significant amount of similar issues experienced by other Volt owners. Vehicle was inspected and repaired by a Chevrolet dealership, but seems to be a recurring issue with very limited parts supplied by GM, leading to potential of very long delays in repair time.
