While driving on the expressway at expressway speeds we got a message on the information system stating the engine will shutdown soon, pullover safely as soon as possible (paraphrased). The van started to lose power almost immediately upon receiving the message. We were lucky to pull over on a multi lane expressway since we were already in the right lane. It appears the gas engine did not engage when the battery was almost out of power (1%). On the side of the road, it took two times to turn the van on and off before the gas engine started. We were able to make it home. The next business day we contacted the dealership and had it towed there for service. After evaluation I was told the entire transmission needed to be replaced since a generator for the electric motor is housed there and is apparently the cause of the problem. At this time my vehicle is still with dealership awaiting parts. I did research online and see the message we got was the focus of a recall (to display the message) but the cause of the mechanical\electrical failure was still unknown from Chrysler/Stellantis. This is unacceptable. We could have easily been in a crash due to the issue. If they can't fix the actual problem, the message needs to display much sooner while the battery still has sufficient power such as 10%. I believe we had 1% indicated on the driver display at the time of the message.

The rear tail gate will not latch. In cold weather the rear gate has exhibited problems latching. The tailgate motor fails to open or close and the latch remains released. The latch is well greased and moves. You can hear the latch motor run, however the tailgate does not latch shut. There is no D-Ring or pull to tie a rope. No handles with a through hole to tie the tailgate closed to protect animals and baggage from falling out the back. The tailgate slowly opens by itself while driving. Wind pressure or bumps cause it to open when the latch fails to work properly. This could put occupants and drivers on the highway at risk if things fell out the back of the minivan on the highway. The driver may not be aware that the tailgate opened up while moving by it self on the highway. The automatic closure mechanism and motorized latch need to close and latch tight for safety. There should be a D ring or a handle with a through space to tie the tailgate down if it fails in addition to a recall to program or replace defective components in Chrysler Pacifica with motorized tailgates.

I was driving on [XXX] in Virginia, speed limit is 70mph, a warning flashed in the screen: “Stop Safely, Vehicle will Shut Off Soon.” The car immediately began decelerating, I pulled off the highway and restarted the car, but it would only drive very slowly (approx 15mph). After restarting two more times, it was able to drive normally. This is the second such incident, the car is under warranty. The first incident happened [XXX] and I brought the car to the dealer, Chrysler of Culpepper, Va. Their service department told me that they were unable to replicate the event after the first incident and it was likely just a computer glitch that has corrected itself. I have another service appointment scheduled, but they seem to be clueless on how to fix this incredibly dangerous problem. While on interstate in busy Atlanta traffic received loss of power warning. Engine is about to stop pulled over to side of road, but shoulder was very narrow and feared for our lives as car was very close to traffic lane. Called Chrysler roadside assistance. Long delay. After a couple of attempts to restart, I was able to get off the road into a shop. Mechanic reported code P0A43. Drive motor sensor. Taking to dealer tomorrow. After half a mile car would not move, and this could have resulted in a fatal accident if I couldn’t get to the shoulder. Previously reported to dealer knocking in transmission when accelerating and decelerating. Dealer said that was normal. However, my previous 2022 Pacifica hybrid did not do that.

There has been several incidents where we experienced sudden engine loss and the vehicle and computer powered off while operating the vehicle. We reported these safety concerns to AutoNation Carlsbad and they were unable to recreate this problem. We have escalated these concerns to the Chrysler’s retention team. Their retention team recommends that we scheduled a follow up service appointment with a second service department.

While driving on the highway, warning came on to pull over safely that car would be shutting off. I had approximately 20 seconds to coast to side of the 3 lane highway an park on shoulder, as acceleration did not work. Car then shut down completely.

The vehicle warning said it would shut down and to pull over immediately (the "Loss of Motive Power" issue known to these vehicles). THe vehicle is available as it has been sitting at the dealership waiting for the transmission for FOUR MONTHS. This occurred on 8/19/23 and as of today, 12/20/23, the transmission is yet to be replaced. I was driving on a 70mph highway with my two small children in the backseat. It was terrifying to lose power steering and the inability to accelerate. I had to pull over on the busy highway and turn off the van, wait a little bit, then turn it back on. I made it about another 1-2 miles when it did it AGAIN. I did the same thing, turned it off/on again, and then made it to the next exit to wait for a tow truck. Yes, this is the known Transmission issue with the Pacifica Hybrids made through Jan 2023. This was confirmed by the Chrysler dealership I had it towed to and inspected by then, there was no police or insurance report. It has not been test-driven or reproduced, to my knowledge, as they know what the issue is and have been waiting for four months to fix it. The dash displayed the known warning with this issue immediately when it happened the two times it occurred, there was no warning beforehand or any symptoms of any issue with the vehicle. The dash displayed "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon."

Driving from Louisiana to Kansas for the holidays in our 2022 Pacifica Hybrid, and received notice popped up that car was about to shut down and pull off road quickly. This appears to be associated with a recall we did take the car in for but apparently the recall only changed software to tell you the car was about to shut down and didn't fix the issue with the car actually shutting down! This happened to us 4 times. 3 times we had time and space to pull over, wait, and restart. 4th time was immediate note and shutdown but fortunately we were at a stop light and cars could go around us until we were able to restart. We could have been seriously injured or killed had this happened on a busy interstate. This was a Saturday so no service open and I couldn't risk putting my family back in that car so Monday when dealership was open I drove to dealership. Renting a car was to be very expensive $3500 or so to drive back up around end of year. No dealers within 60 miles could even look at the car for several days, and repair was going to be 1-3 months from what dealer and on-line info about it looked to be. My best option was to trade it off when I got it to the dealership but a very costly option! This issue needs to be fixed or people are going to be seriously injured or killed. The warning doesn't give but a few seconds to get off the road and that won't work on an interstate going through a major city! I don't know if the car is fixed as the dealer has it now and we have a new Pacific at much cost to us.
