2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY Complaints

The passenger side sliding door made an awful noise when closing and since then will not lock. It occasionally makes noises like it isn't closing properly but then does close. This happened about 2 weeks ago but we have not had it checked for repair as I feel this is a safety issue that should be addressed by Chrysler since my research has shown it is a very common complaint with Chrysler sliding doors as well as expensive repair. We are worried about the security of not being able to lock our vehicle as we frequently travel and even sleep in it.

The driver side sliding door is not latching fully. The door will be shut and the indicator in blinking, the lights are going inside the car and the door is repeatedly trying to latch. The consumer stated that they brought the car to a certified Chrysler dealer to inquire about repairing the sliding door latch. At this time, the consumer is expected to cover the full cost of the repair.

When hot, the drivers side passenger door does not latch. Multiple people have made comments about the same issue (many for the 2014 model) through various forums. No known solution exists. Driving along vehicle shut off. Back doors locked would not open had a 2 and 3, year old in car seats. Trunk wouldn’t open only front doors. Had to climb over the bucket seats to get the children out, trapped in heat, 2 year old with epilepsy. Got the children out, had to then pull their car seats over the bucket seats. Towed to garage. Was told it needed a fuse box $1500. On back order for 5 days. We are 2,000 miles from home. Repair shop tried to put part in van starts smoking Tells us to send it to the dealer who now says it needs a tipen for $2800. How does a vehicle just stop and lock its occupants in? If it was on fire, one or both of our babies could be harmed. We then had to fly home since we at the time had no vehicle and were way past our vacation. Our broken van is in Massachusetts.

Right passenger sliding door has trouble latching when the weather is hot. For the past three years, every time the weather turns hot the sliding door acts up. It will close but won't completely latch unless you push hard on the back of the door, and even that doesn't last. I'll be driving down the road and randomly it'll unlatch and try to relatch with the door ajar alarm on the dash. I fear that the door will open on its own with my children in the back. But this only happens in the heat of the day. Many times I will hear my car alarm going off when I'm inside my home because it's trying to relatch itself.

Passenger headrest randomly deployed. No accident no reason to deploy. Deployed when getting inside the vehicle.

My vehicle engine light came on. Error code P0302 detected. Private mechanic referred to dealership for repair. Dealership confirmed original diagonals. Engine issues consistent with NHTSA bulletins D-14-22, 18-069-16 and 09-002-14. As part of the bulletin vehicle warranties were extended for select vehicle years. My vehicle is under both the year and mileage extension however, does not “qualify” per dealership due to vehicle year not being listed on the bulletins.

Passenger Side Headrest literally exploded open due to a broken plastic tab. I was only mildly injured but definitely felt the after effects in my neck and back. Definite Safety concern. I'm worried the driver side headrest will do the same thing as we are driving. Absolutely should be a safety recall.

Door lock buzzes in passenger side sliding door. Sometimes it will not unlock. Inability to open door could put our safety at risk someday.

I bought my 2014 Chrysler Town and Country not even a year ago and this is the second transmission that has went out on my van. I’m now in the process of fighting with the warranty company to get it replaced if possible. There’s no reason for this. The first time it went out was a month after I purchased it June 2022. Second time May 2023 (still in shop waiting).
