2016 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY Complaints

Driver side headrest deployed (AHR system) while driving at a speed of 55 mph with no accident. Driver bit tongue while driving. I have found many complaints of this issue online. Vehicle hasn't been inspected at this time since it happened a little over a week ago while on vacation. There were no warning signs that it was going to happen. Just purchased this 2016 Chrysler Town and County a little over a month ago and now have this repair to consider of a faulty "safety" system.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed, the contact became aware of a failure with the transmission. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be shifted out of neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the transmission pump. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

The driver's seat headrest went off. The leather front popped off from the backing. Inside you can see where there is plastic broken and we can't push the pieces back together. The pop of it going off was loud and thank goodness I wasn't driving on the highway when it happened. Vehicle was not in motion when it went off. We were cleaning out the van and wiping down the seat when it happened. It was literally a ticking time bomb and I'm afraid that the passenger side is going to do this too.

The contact stated that the vehicle responded as needed while reversing on a flat road surface. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.

My 2016 Chrysler Town and country van, started making horrible noises while I was circling to get my friend at the airport. There was no warning light and no place to stop. I slowly drove 2 miles to a gas station and parked it over night, got it towed to my regular shop in the morning. They told me transmission oil pump had failed. They referenced me to NTHSA SAFETY RECALL 16V461000 ( Chrysler recall number S44 ) for transmission oil pump. Recall was for dates Aug 2015 thru Aug 2016. My vehicle DOM was December 2015, right in the middle of the recall date range. However, for unknown reasons, my VIN is not included in the NTHSA recall and Chrysler / FCA / Stellantis is refusing to pay for the $7500 repair. I would like NTHSA to please add my VIN number to the above referenced recall. Please let me know next steps. Thank you!

The sliding drivers side door is locked shut and will not open. I have seen a notice for this vehicle model but for some reason this VIN does not show it.

While driving, vehicle gradually lost power and suddenly turned off with out warning.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's wife was able to restart the vehicle and drove to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission pump had failed. The mechanic determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

1. Engine runs but when I shift into reverse, drive etc. Car does not move. When I took it to be looked at, they said that my transmission doesn't have pressure. There was no indicator lights on the dash or any reason for me to think anything was wrong until I went out to drive my kids to school and it wouldn't move. Available for inspection on request.
