2016 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY Complaints

Spark plugs and motor/transmission mount fixed but car started shutting off when I would come to a stop. Took it back to dealership and they stated the TCC failed and was replaced, started messing up again a week later. Wouldn’t start , I had the battery and alternator checked and both are good. It is currently back in the shop.

Driver side sliding door failures to open. It can not be unlocked & it can not be opened manually. Started on may 23,2024. Navigation system does not work also.. Stopped working 3yrs ago.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 35 MPH, there was a loud buzzing sound coming from the transmission. The contact stated that moments later the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the residence and the contact used a diagnostic machine to retrieve a transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 74,000.

Transmission is slipping, hard shifting, delayed engagement. I checked and it says this van is not in recall but it is doing the same thing

My rear passenger sliding door doesn't lock. My rear driver sliding door won't open. This is a safety problem if I was ever in a wreck and couldn't get my Grandaughter out the door due to her being in a car seat. This is a serious safety issue. If the car caught fire you would put someone in grave danger if they were in the back seats and the door wouldn't open. This is a huge problem with these vehicles and I don't think we should have to pay for it, Chrysler should.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. Due to the failure, the vehicle was almost rear-ended. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed transmission and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Chrysler is aware that they have a faulty engine oil filter adapter in many of their automobiles but are refusing to do a recall to address the issue. Mine finally began leaking just a couple drops on the cement no warning light. Brought it into the shop and was confirmed that the adapter was leaking ALOT whole engine was covered. This could have led to my car seizing up on the highway without a warning light at all!

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the hydraulic pressure sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who then diagnosed a failure with the transmission pump. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.

The oil cooler and oil filter housing unit is made of plastic becomes cracked and leaks oil and coolant. with it leaking oil and coolant the engine can seize and over heat. I have had the same problem with my 2012 Chrysler town and country with the same plastic oil cool/oil filter housing unit.

ticking started in the engine, idle is rough most times, #2 cylinder misfire and does not accelerate when gas pedal is pressed. occasional cut off while driving or stopping at a light. mechanic checked codes to verify. In september of 2023 transmission was replaced by a certified shop after the same similar issues. keep dumping money into a car that i am still paying on and maintain according to the maintenance schedule.
