2013 FORD EDGE Complaints

Brakes became soft and pedal then went down to the floor while driving. I was able to pump the brakes back up and I took it to the Ford dealer and they could not find an issue they said the brakes were fine.

The brake pedal became difficult to depress at very low speed and rendered the vehicle difficult to completely stop. There was no warning light or other indication of defect. At one point I could have potentially had a collision with another vehicle at an intersection when I started to go but stopped. The brakes worked normally at higher speed. I took the vehicle to a repair shop which said the brake power booster was bad and needed to be replaced. Before the work was commenced I ran the VIN through both the Ford and NTHSA websites to see if there was any recall or other information on this problem and found nothing. After I got the car back I did some research on the issue and found there was a problem with this part in the same year and same plant where my vehicle was manufactured, to wit 2013 in Ford's Oakville plant, and that Ford had given extended warranties on the brake booster part to 150,000 miles on certain vehicles made in the plant but not mine. Reference number is 13N02. I have written Ford about this but they disclaimed responsibility. I do not have the part, as the repair shop had disposed of it before I found about the part problem in the Oakville plant.

Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and is like a sponge at random times. This causes the car to not brake and you have to pump the breaks and what it feels like add pressure to the brake line. This has happened several times over the past 8 months. It appears to be a known issue with a lot of owners. I have had two mechanics look into this problem and have paid almost $500 and no issue can be found. I’m now concerned for anyone to drive it until the issue can be resolved. This could cause a deadly accident! The manufacturer was notified, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I ve been having to pump my brakes and push real hard to make them work. I ve been told by local mechanic that it is the POWER BRAKES BOOSTER I ve called my local Ford dealer where I bought my car, Oxmoor Ford I was told the brake repair warranty was for 10 years and no longer applied to my car. I only have 45,00 miles. Please help extend the warranty on my car since I am still in the 10th year. They said it ended April 25, 2013 I did have a wreck earlier this year- I rear ended someone- could have been the brakes. Don t know

While I was driving my Ford Edge 2013 limited, the car shuts off and I lost control of the steering wheel and brakes. I almost hit a pole do the steering wheel going hard. I’m not the only person with this I problem. This happened to me before.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Vehicle will flash AWD Off and have a wrench symbol. Car will drastically slow down and shake. Once car is cut off and on again, it will work for a little bit before repeating the problem. No codes recorded
