2015 FORD EDGE Complaints

Water pump failed. This has been confirmed by an independent service center. Found this issues as the car leaked entire reseviour of coolant. Fortunately this was found while the car was parked. However the issue makes the car immediate undriveable to prevent further damage and has to be towed. Were it not found while parked, the engine would have completely shut down in motion. Approximately a $2,500 repair as it currenlty sits.

The windshield shattered, no collision. Just simply shattered. Cooler than ambient temperatures outside, I was using the rear defrost before the damage accrued.

9/28/2022 after tire rotation, the mechanic notes "Technician noted lug nuts are swelling. Should replace at next tire rotation. $10.00 per nut plus labor" ALL FOUR TIRES

10511 standard load, cooper tires. notification from my mechanic that new lug nuts are needed as they are swelling, recommend changing at next tire rotation, $10 each per nut

My car all of a sudden started making a very loud clanging noise on start up. I took to Ford Dealer in Devine. Service said it sounded like a belt, but no one could actually look at it since they were backed up for 3 weeks. I spoke to [XXX] there. My husband took two different mechanics and they both said fly wheel. We told them to fix. When mechanic got in there to change he said that the flywheel was cracked in 4 places. It has almost ready to completely fall apart. He said that was not normal for a flywheel to do that. After doing some reach we found out that this happened to many Ford Edges (different years) and the short block is the problem. The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that when her daughter started the vehicle and shifted the gear from park(P) to reverse(R), the gear failed to shift. The check engine light was illuminated and the gear was then shifted into the opposite gear that the contact's daughter attempted to shift into. The contact's daughter applied the emergency parking brake and turned off the vehicle due to being inoperable. The vehicle was then towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the shifter bushing needed to be replaced; however, the remedy parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the remedy parts were not yet available and advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the coolant warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys Auto Parts and the coolant reservoir was refilled. However, the failure reoccurred while driving with a message was displayed indicating that the engine power was reduced to prevent a failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that cylinder #3 was misfiring; and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

I had my engine light come on several months ago. Driving down the highway, my car went from 55 to 20 mph and that’s all the faster I could get it to accelerate.Took to a mechanic and hooked it up to his reader and showed it was an engine misfire. Oil and fluids have been changed on time every year. The car has less than 60,000 miles on it. Lost heat and here there was very low coolant. Replenished the coolant and the next day was gone. Took back to mechanic and there was no external leak. Upon further inspections, it was determined that the coolant is leaking into the engine and only solution is a complete engine replacement. This is a huge safety issue. I am so thankful that I was driving on the highway with no traffic that day or it could have been a lot worse. Please make this issue into an immediate recall for the safety of all us drivers with these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the rear trunk door would intermittently fail to open and on other occasions would not stay closed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle but no service was performed. After retrieving the vehicle, the contact discovered that the doors on the vehicle could no longer be opened using the key fob or while using the key manually. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the transmission not in park message was displayed. The gear shifter was stuck in the park position and failed to move. Additionally, the battery was inoperable. The contact called the local dealer who suggested that the vehicle be towed in for service. The contact stated that the powertrain was repaired in August 2022. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
