2013 FORD EDGE Complaints

Brake line failure on braking to turn. Brakes totally did not function. Slowing down had to downshift and use parking brake to slow down and stop. Had 2 children in the car at the time. Had to have car towed to shop. Was out of state in rural Wisconsin. He verified that this was not normal and should never have failed. Have less than 56000 miles on car and garage kept. Could have been fatal. I took a picture

The contact contacted a certified mechanic who stated that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in any recalls and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was 92,000.

At mileage 99,229 I was told by the mechanic shop that the ABS hydraulic system needed to be replaced. I was having issues with the brakes not responding properly when coming to a stop and the brake pedals would have to be pushed down to the floor in order to come to a complete stop. This was indeed a safety concern for me. No warning signs appeared on my dash & even while using the system check option on the dash, it would read Brakes are ok.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was diagnosed as a faulty front driver's side brake booster that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in an extended warranty coverage. The contact stated that the dealer and the manufacturer had offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 85,500.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 20-30 MPH and approaching a red traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal all the way to the floorboard and the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the brake pads were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster and master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in recall associated to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

The brakes got extremely weak and spongy and don't slow car down fast enough, the master cylinder in the brake booster causes this issue, the 2013-2014 F-150 trucks had the same issue as the 2013-2014 Ford edge.

While making a right turn and using the brakes at the same time, the brake pedal goes to the floor all at once. Then I pretty much have no braking at all. Goes to the floor and slowly comes to a stop.It went to 4 different shops because none of them could find a problem. No warning lights on dash. No codes showing up. Brakes bled, booster and master cylinder replaced and it still went to the floor. My insurance was contacted and the booster had extended warranty. I watched videos on Youtube and saw where mechanics found out it was due to the ABS pump unit. Valves are sticking inside this $500 part. I went in reverse about 15 mph and slammed the brakes, the pedal came back up and felt fine for a few months. It has now happened again and I cannot get the pedal to return this time. I am retired, disabled and on a fixed SS income with no savings and cannot get this fixed without getting a loan. Personally, I think this should be a recall, because if you research Edge forums and Youtube you'll find it happens a LOT. I love my Edge and want to keep it, but not without brakes. I've been driving it scared and real slow just to go to appointments. It's dangerous, but I have no other way. The ABS module is at fault. If I were younger I could tackle this myself and save labor cost, but I have COPD and NSCLC, on oxygen. Please, research this.

The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer and the manufacturer were contacted and stated that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was 84,000.

i would come to a stop and all of a sudden i would have to press all the way down on brakes to the floor for the car to stop. I took the car and got the master cylinder replaced. 5/2/2002 and now on 6/22/2022 the brakes did not work again, so i took back to machanic, he then checked the brake pads, brake oil all was working fine. There are no codes on the dash. I am very worried if I am on the freeway this could happen and I get in a serious accident. I did call the ford dealer here in town and just to diagnose they charge $160.00

I had put a complaint for my 2013 ford edge regarding broken rails.for my sunroofs. No luck with that. Now my window is flew and broke, do i have no glass. Please help
