2013 FORD EDGE Complaints

Driving along with 115,000 miles experienced excessive brake pedal travel when trying to stop. Scared the crap out of me. Braking did work at the bottom of the pedal as it was almost at the floor. Did some online research and many at experiencing this issue. It is sticky valves in the HCU. A condition that has caused recalls in other ford vehicles. I paid $1,600 to the ford dealer to replace the HCU. This needs a recall. It will kill someone

My 2013 Ford Edge had 44,882 miles on it. With no warning or lights, car was difficult to stop. Hissing noise when brakes applied. Very scary! Took it to Ford dealership. They charged me $167 to diagnose the problem as power brake booster, and said it would take 3-4 weeks to get the part. Ford knows there’s a problem (N102) and supposedly it’s covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles, but I was told that mine would NOT be covered. I took it to an independent repaIr shop. They were able to get the part in three days. It cost me $993.28 to have it repaired. VERY DISAPPOINTED with Ford!! This is a SAFETY ISSUE!, Thank God I wasn’t on a highway when it happened! Is Ford waiting until someone gets killed?

Brake failure of the power brake booster, I was coming to stop and the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle went through a busy intersection narrowly missing another vehicle. I am the original owner of the vehicle. I contacted Ford customer care and explained to them what had happened,I was told Ford is not doing anything for customers who experienced this failure at this time.

The brake booster has failed now for the 3rd time in 12 months. Brakes still work but pedal goes almost to floor. Brake booster previously replaced, at our expense, by local Ford dealership in January 2021. Three months later brake booster failed again. Took back to dealership and they found no fault. In October brake booster failed again and has not regained proper function to date. Any questions answered below refer to the most recent malfunction.

I'm always sure to lock my doors while driving because of the concern of an assailant entering while at a stop light. However, I'm unable to protect myself because my doors won't lock while the car is in drive. This is massive safety concern for my family and me. One should feel safe and protected while in their vehicle, especially a Ford vehicle. My dealership did confirm and replicate this issue.

Well driving under normal operating conditions at the posted speed limit of 45 mph I was cut off and apply the brakes rapidly to avoid a collision, at that moment the brake pedal lost its firmness and depressed slowly to the floor with limited breaking ability. After the incident I pulled to the shoulder and noticed that the brake pedal continue to sink to the floor with little to no resistance even after placing in park, shutting down and restarting the vehicle. This condition still persists after break bleeding and checking the entire brake system, my safety was in jeopardy due to the fact that I had limited braking ability and the pedal continue to sink to the floor with no resistance. This has not been evaluated by a dealership or independent mechanic as of this writing and the problem has not been reproduced also there’s been no reports to my insurance, police, the manufacture or any other parties and there were no warning lights, diagnostic trouble codes, or any other Indication as to there being a faulty system or failed ABS pump, master cylinder or hydroboost

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the pedal extended to the floor and the braking distance was extended. Additionally, the brake pedal felt spongy when pressed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The mechanic indicated that a hissing sound was present while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.

The wrench light comes on sporadically causing decreased speeds which entails causes accidents.

my car would not stop when i tried to stop. I tried stopping a second time and the brake pedal went to the floor. i have another replaced the brake booster 2 years ago and now they are saying it is the hcu unit. my car was under recall for booster but mine was not covered as it was made in nov i understand the recall was for 2013 made before May. I had the same problem.

i went to stop and the vehile did not stop but continued to roll. I tried stopping a second time the vehile break pedal went to the group. I then had the car towed in to the shop.
