2014 FORD EDGE Complaints

The back up camera view is distorted, the image is upside down. This causes a visibility issue. I cannot use the camera to back up, I’m dependent on the side and rear view mirrors. This car has several blind spots that make using the mirrors difficult when backing up. I have nearly hit numerous cars.

Three different occurrences of the engine shutting off. Twice while in park and once while stopped in a drive-thru.

Backup camera fails intermittently and displays a warning telling me it is not operable and recommending it be checked. Same problem as desc2ibed in NHTSA recall issued last month for Ford vehicles including 2021-2014 Edge.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse, the rearview camera failed to display a clear review image. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that occasionally the digital screen displayed an upside-down image or a black screen. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and the contact was informed that the back over prevention camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related to failure to an unidentified recall; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rearview camera became inoperable. The contact stated that the rearview camera image was frozen, and the screen was blank. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,717.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop, and the stopping distance was extended. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the brake master cylinder and brake booster; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the hydraulic brake booster and electronic brake booster were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Rear camera works intermittently and is often blurry/glitches. Rear powered hatch often only closes partway then reopens

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the sunroof unexpectedly exploded. The contact stated that there was no impact to the sunroof to have caused the sunroof glass to explode. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

The back up camera quit working about 6 months ago for a short time. then it worked for about a week then stopped working completely. I had a message on the screen stating to bring it to the dealership. At that point the backup sensors were still working. Until about a week ago they quit completely. Now I get a warning to check the sensors but there is nothing stuck in or on the sensors. Now the entire back up system and sensors no longer work at all.

The brake booster continues to fail. I replaced this part for the second time 6 months ago, the first time was roughly 9 months before that. The failure of this part causes the brake pedal to drop to the floor making stopping tricky. I have had no accidents, no police report and no warning. No dash lights illuminate indicating a problem as well as no symptoms before the failure.
