2020 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the driver’s side front door made clicking sounds while opening, and then failed to close securely. The contact stated that it took two people to close the door securely. The contact had to use the passenger’s side door to enter or exit the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who determined that the door needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the wrench symbol was also illuminated. The contact stated that the warning light illuminated intermittently, and the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the failure might be engine or hybrid battery related. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The welds are breaking on the driver's side door. The hinge pops when the door is opened and is getting worse. The door feels like it will eventually not close properly (if it even is now).

My AWD module went out and several features of my vehicle were in-operable. I have read that this is a common problem with this vehicle, and it tends to happen around the same mileage. The failure of this module makes the pre-collision assistance fail

Check engine light came on Friday and 24 hours later started making a whirring sound lost power on the highway started smoking and smelled like it was going to catch fire. Was impeding traffic and almost caused an accident. Had it towed to Ford dealership where a diagnostic test was run. They determined that it was engine failure and Ecoboost failure. Coolant was leaking into cylinders 2&3. They claim the code fired on September 9. They asked if I had taken it anywhere to clear the code. I most definitely did not. Ford Motor Company is unwilling to make this right and have quoted me almost $9000 to fix this issue. Certain makes and models of 2020 Ford Escape have had engine recalls. This is clearly a malfunction on their part.

Spot welds failed on left side front door check arm. Driver side door was making a loud creaking noise. Window was also affected and could not roll down. Took the car into the dealer thinking this would be covered under the warranty or the extended warranty we purchased when we bought the car new. Dealership discovered the spot welds failed. Was told we've have to replace the door.

1.) Faulty welding of front left door hinge causes loud popping noise when door is in motion. Door would not close. Forced the door to close, which caused the door bracket to break off inside the door. Now the window will not roll down. 2.) Faulty welding of front right door hinge causes loud popping noise when door in motion. Hinge hasn't broken yet.

The front driver's side door began popping and making a loud noise when opening. The the window stopped going down, and now you can hear air coming in through the door, like it is not shut all the way. I took my car to the dealership and they said this is a known problem with the door hinge welds and that the welds are busted. The recommended repair from Ford is replacement of the door and check arm. However, my car is over 36,000 miles, so out of warranty, and therefore the $1900 repair is my responsibility to pay to fix.

The hinge of my driver’s side door came off. I did file a complaint with Ford but a friend told me to file one here also. It is currently in the body shop getting fixed. It is going to cost over $3,000
