2020 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

2020 Ford Escape driver side door hinge popped. Known issue. No recall. Unable to open or close door. Unable to roll down window or lock car door.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming out of the driver’s side door. The contact opened the door and the door failed to open and close properly. Additionally, the window failed to operate as designed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the front driver's side door made abnormally loud sounds while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the driver's side door window would not roll down as designed. The contact also stated that while driving 20-25 MPH, the front driver's side door opened inadvertently. The contact was able to close the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the door hinge weld had fractured internally. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure, and a case was opened on behalf of the contact; however, the case was later closed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

All my warning lights came on my vehicle. Before I could get to service department, the car was making a weird sound underneath me. I knew something was wrong. I had it towed to dealer. They say my TURBO is out. The car is still in shop waiting on part, but the service man said the same make and model also is having TURBO issues. Just wanting to see if this is a common thing in this car. A recall would be great.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the front driver's side door weld had detached, and the door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 46,900.

Drivers side door started 2 days prior with cracking noise, difficult to close and two days later drivers side door is sagging, unable to open or close and window does not work.

My driver side door is breaking at the welded spots. It started making a popping noise and you can see where the weld spots are failing. I have taken it to the dealership for diagnosis and it is doing the same thing that is under investigation currently. My car it out of warranty due to mileage so it is not a covered repair. At this time I have not had it pop open yet because I am limiting opening that door by crawling in the other side but in the couple weeks since it has started the noise has gotten worse from the times I’ve had to open it.

Driver door starting making a noise and had trouble closing. And then the window wouldn’t go down all the way. Took it to the dealership and they said that the spot welds failed in the door.
