2020 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

Despite repairs done under what eventually became TSB 23-2308, the brake squeal continues. I reported this originally to the dealership that sold me the vehicle in the spring of 2021.Work was done under SSM51261

The lift gate won't open. The "enable" and "disable" options on the vehicle screen are greyed out.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the navigator's computer screen froze, blacked out, and was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000

This safety incident occurred with both the driver and passenger front doors. There are two hinges matching the body paint, which are fine. A third black hinge spot welded to the door that holds the door open in partial-open positions had the issue. The spot welding has completely come undone on the driver door and is showing stress on the passenger door. A loud, cracking noise and difficulty opening the door indicated this issue. I had to disconnect this item from the body and shove it into the driver door in order to open and shut the door. While this prevents further damage, it severely hampers opening and shutting the door safely. Without the stop action in place, we have a risk of the door flying open and damaging the body of the car or anything else in the door's path.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on several occasions while exiting and entering the driver's door, there was an abnormally loud popping sound coming from the door. Additionally, while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to roll down the driver's window, but the window would not roll down. The vehicle was taken to two body shops where it was diagnosed that the pressure and or friction caused an unknown part to fracture, and the window motor failed. The contact was informed that the driver's door needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the driver's side door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired

The door welds and arm on the driver side door is breaking. Loud creaking, popping noise. Now door is not wanting to shut. We see this is a common problem with this type of vehicle.

entertainment system needs to be reset multiple times a day. bluetooth does not connect to the same cell phone i have been using and needs to be re-connected manually every time I start the car. stereo and gps are non-responsive and require restart to properly operate. Bluetooth needs to connect automatically to my phone.

one day suddenly with no warning or alerts, or messages of the problem to alert me, the driver's door began making horrible noises when opening or shutting. I have extended warranty and contacted them, took it to the Ford dealership for inspection where it was determined the internal welds in door are broken, also causing problems with the electric window of that door. the window will only go down about an inch or so and the entire door needs to be replaced which is not covered under the warranty and I'm told it needs to go to a body shop to replace the door!

It has been nearly 10 months since Ford issued this recall (23S27) for the 2020 Ford Escape. There is a risk of fire if this engine fault is not resolved. Ten months is an unacceptably LONG time for the company not to have issued a satisfactory resolution to this dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while in the front driver's seat, the key fob was used to open the trunk. The contact stated that there was suddenly the mechanical sound of the trunk closing and the contact observed that the trunk had fallen approximately 5 inches. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred while walking to grab items from the trunk, the contact opened the trunk with the key fob. While the contact was in the trunk the contact suddenly heard the mechanical sound of the trunk closing and jumped back and observed that the trunk had fallen halfway. The contact stated that there was an unknown part that appeared to be disconnecting from the ride area of the trunk. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
