2020 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, she heard an abnormal popping sound. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the door check arm had detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the door check arm and attachment points for both the front driver’s and passenger’s side doors. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23013 (Structure). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Driver's side door weld broke. Took to Ford dealership (Future Ford of Concord). Was told on first appointment it was a known issue and that Ford would not cover repair, but a door replacement was needed. Door was unable to be ordered per service tech and car was returned to me. Rescheduled second appointment so they could order the door. Car was with dealer for a week, door was not shipped to parts department because of memo stating door issue is known, but no recall has been issued. Called Ford's customer service line and was told this is a known issue and they are awaiting a recall in May or June, but don't know how to resolve the issue so can't issue the recall yet. Meanwhile, my door is in operable (window cannot go up and down) the hinge weld is broken and makes a severe popping sound. Additionally, when Future Ford looked at door they broke the aesthetic cover on the interior of the door and there is a huge bulge near the window where you can now see the interior of the door. Ford stated I need to wait for the recall and no parts will be sent to the dealer to fix.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse, the vehicle made a howling noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was also emitting a clicking noise when the brake pedal was depressed to shift out of park(P). The failure was intermittent. The contact's spouse, an independent mechanic, stated that it seemed as though there might have been a failure with the parking brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the howling noise while the vehicle was shifted into reverse due to not being able to duplicate the sound. The dealer stated that the clicking noise while depressing the brake pedal was diagnosed as a parking brake failure. The vehicle had not been repaired due to not being covered under recall or warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed that the repairs were not covered by a recall or warranty. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the driver's side door partially opened, and upon attempting to secure the door, the contact heard an abnormal popping sound emanating from the door hinge. The following day, the contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he found that the driver's side door was unable to latch closed and required an excessive amount of force to securely close the door. As a result, the door hinge detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23013 (Structure). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000.

My vehicle is continuously triggers a check engine light, which goes on and off. It states on the FORD APP that the engine is detecting that the exhaust gas recirculation system flow is higher than expected for the operating conditions. I have repeatedly requested that this be evaluated but every time I go in for service they tell me that they will not look at it unless the check engine light is on (Which it goes on and off all the time with the same record) and they refuse to go off the check engine history on my APP. There is also a sound coming from my driver side tailpipe that is low sound at idle but increasing whines/chirps during acceleration. I can't say for sure, but I believe these are tied together and the dealership tells me that i have to leave my car with them for at least 4 weeks for them to even take a look. I supposedly got an OTA update to resolve this issue, but it hasn't worked. Check engine light is still on and off.

after dealing with the loud popping of my door for one day, now my window will not roll down and when i open and close my door there is no tension at all. making me believe that the entire inside of my door panel fell apart. it’s scary because i’m worried i may not be able to open or close my door soon, or that it will stop latching.

The driver's seat has something protruding (seat heater?) into your tailbone which causes pain and discomfort. The constant adjusting to get comfortable (grabbing the steering wheel to pull myself forward) and slower reaction due to pain and numbness is a hazard waiting to happen. I have not addressed this with my local dealership as they had my car for 7 weeks and only fixed the recall issue (window switch) and none of the other 5 issues I took it in for.

Drivers side door was creaking and now the window will not go down. Reading other complaints seems like a weld issue on the door catch. I do not want this to open while I am driving. I have 41k miles so my basic warranty is not in play. Please let me know if there are other warranties that will cover this.

the door pops when opening and closing. sometimes gets stuck while opening or closing. looks like the door panel is coming undone from the door. arm break check.
