2017 FORD EXPEDITION Complaints

Ford Expedition suddenly lost acceleration while driving. This results in the accelerator producing no power, essentially placing the vehicle into neutral. After turning vehicle on & off, it worked properly. Took it into auto repair place & was told this is a common problem and the THROTTLE MOTOR had to be replaced. After replacement, vehicle was towing a boat and the same thing happened and the check engine light came on. However, this time, after about 20 seconds, the vehicle shifted back into gear, the engine light turned off, and vehicle operated properly for the rest of the drive.

While driving down the highway, the low brake fluid light sounded and the brake light came on . we slowly loss brakes while driving down the HWy. We added brake fluid, which there was no brake fluid in there at all .When we added the fluid, we pump the brakes and they tighten . Shortly after adding more fluid , the fluid and brakes were gone and white smoke came out of the tail pipe. We never could see exactly where it was leaking at. We added about a quart and a half of fluid . After adding the more fluid, we managed to get it up to the dealership where it was purchased . We explain to what was going on and he knew of the situation because he said it was a recall last year on the master cylinder if I’m saying it, right. I told him that we never received a recall letter but we left the vehicle and he did research by our Vin number, and said we were not part of the recall, but I read a recall number 22S14 about the break failure in expeditions. We called the local number attached to the recall and they once again told us that our vehicle was not part of the recall because I guess it was not out of the Kentucky plant . We are having the same issue with our brakes, but it’s not covered in the current recall. My vehicle is currently in the shop and waiting to be repaired. Can someone research and see if our vehicle can be part of the recall now and be repaired under the/a recall. thank you.

The contact stated that when he attempted to use the blower to cool the vehicle interior, the blower stopped operating as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the wiring harness needed to be replaced on the blower motor. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, she noticed white smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. No warning lights was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Few times engine goes on idle and wrench light comes on, manage to move to shoulder and turn engine off and back on and like nothing happened, but is doing the same more often, very dangerous in highways all of sudden power in engine is gone, should get recall to make sure fuel systems or engine is ok

This car is having very shacky starts in the past 2 months, the engine has lots of vibration. the car currently only has 67,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air conditioning blower motor occasionally failed to operate as needed. On other occasions, the blower motor randomly turned off and on while driving over bumps in the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the blower motor and blower motor wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were contacted regarding the failure and a service appointment was scheduled. The contact was concerned that the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System) repair included the replacement of the blower motor but did not include the repair of the faulty wiring harness. The failure mileage was 84,000.

While travelling on highway uphill around 60 mph in heavy traffic, vehicle lost all power and went to idle. I had to maneuver 3 lanes to reach shoulder. Wrench icon showed on dash. Restarted engine and code cleared and had power again. It happened 4 more times over next 2 months then gave P2112 code. Research showed to replace throttle body which I did. Now doing some watchful waiting to see if it reoccurs. I believe this is a safety gap that requires a recall and a redesign of the logic to prevent the disabling the power train all the way back to idle.

On May 15, 2023, our 2017 Ford Expedition rolled while in Park and unattended. It had been parked for approx. 2-1/2 hours before rolling down our inclined driveway. It collided with our granite mailbox post, snapping it off. Thankfully, no one was hurt, however, the vehicle suffered significant damage.

It has been 10 months and nothing has been done to fix this problem with the climate control. My front air conditioner goes off more frequently now.
