2019 FORD EXPEDITION Complaints

When driving down the interstate or crossing traffic the transmissions in these vehicles will slip causing you to be immobile. Possibly causing death

The contact owns 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while accelerating between first and second gear, the vehicle jerked abnormally, and the RPM decreased almost causing the vehicle to stall. The contact stated that after the hesitation, the vehicle returned to normal operation. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission and clutch were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,671.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the engine was hard to crank during cold weather. There was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The service engine soon warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the virtual cam timing was not operating as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,034.

When driving on a highway we went to pass a slower moving vehicle. When pulling out into the oncoming lane to accelerate the automatic transmission slipped into neutral. This situation became dangerous because there was a vehicle coming at us and we had to break to get back behind the slower vehicle. However the transmission did go back into gear causing us to become a hazard to the vehicles behind us. Again this happened on the interstate when accelerating to get on the interstate. This is a known problem by Ford and has been documented many times. Ford claims that since the vehicle is past the warranty period they aren't responsible to repair.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, there was a rattling sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the cam phaser and the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21B10 (Powertrain Control Module Reprogram for Cam Phaser Rattle). The failure mileage was 121,000.

Daytime running light LEDs are failing, has turned purple and is very dim on the passenger side.

Ongoing transmission issue that ford has not recalled from the release of the 10 speed transmission until 2022 when they replaced the CSF drum

Vehicle has a rattle upon starting. Also the vehicle is shifting harshly and slipping. Sometimes the vehicle will occasionally stop accelerating in the middle of the road. The RPMs will rise but the vehicle stops having power. After a minute it finally jerks and the vehicle will go again. I have had the vehicle examined by a technician and have been told that it is the cam phasers, CDF drum/transmission, and torque converter.

The 10 speed transmission has harsh shifting, jerking, hesitation, slipping, delayed gear changes and lurching forward while driving. The issue is apparent typically between 3rd and 4th gear, and 6th and 7th gear. The dealership mentioned it was a computer programming issue and has reset it twice, but the car continues to have these issues. Apparently this issue is cause by the way the drum was manufactured according this Ford Technician: [XXX] If it's a known issue, and it was fixed in the newer models, I hope Ford does a recall to replace. The vehicle's steering wheel became very loose at ~50k miles making it wobbly and potential to fall off which could cause danger while driving and possibility of airbag deployment. As seen in the attached pictures, there was no thread locker on the bolt that tightens the steering wheel down. I was able to remove it simply with my hands upon a few twist.
