2017 FORD EXPEDITION Complaints

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond and went all the way to the floorboard. The warning message "Low Brake Fluid" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where the brake fluid was refilled; however, the failure reoccurred while driving an hour later. The contact refilled the brake fluid in the vehicle and was able to drive to her residence. However, the failure reoccurred the next day. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,121. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal to make a turn, the brake pedal failed to respond. Upon opening the hood to determine the cause of the failure, the contact noticed that there was no brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAK FLUID INTO BOOSTER THERE IS A CAMPAIGN NUMBER, 22V150000 AND THE RECALL NUMBER IS 22S11

RECENTLY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR GRANDCHILDREN TO SCHOOL. SHE PUT HERE FOOT ON THE BRAKE PETAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. SHE GOT AN ALARM ON HER DASH ABOUT LOW BRAKE FLUID AND LOSS OF BRAKES. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET HE CAR STOPPED. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR FORD DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. WE NOW SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2017 FORD EXPEDITION FOR EXACTLY THIS PROBLEM. The recall is NHTSA recall number 20V-332. THE FORD DEALER IS TELLING US THIS RECALL IS NOT FOR OUR CAR WHEN WE EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS OUTLINED IN THIS RECALL.

exactly as specified in the recall. I first heard a tone, followed by brake failure warning light, then another brake failure light. Luckily I was parking almost immediately and braking was spongy. After turning off the vehicle and trying to restart, upon pressing the brake petal it went completely to the floor rendering me completely stranded. Vehicle did start. Wrecker was called. There was no visible brake fluid leakage on the car or the pavement.

Left home for work and low brake fluid light came on. Went to nearby part store purchased brake fluid. Filled reservoir. Drove about 2 miles light came back on. Pulled over to check and reservoir was completely empty. No visible sign of leak. Had to coast to a slow roll and pull emergency brake to stop.

Throttle body and motor assembly failed at only 33,000 miles. Vehicle suddenly lost power and wrench light immediately illuminated on the dash. Vehicle had to be towed to local Ford dealership for repair. This created a very dangerous situation as the vehicle was currently being operated on a congested interstate on-ramp entering the highway with a very narrow shoulder / emergency lane. A vehicle accident & fatality could have easily occurred given this dangerous situation. Unfortunately this throttle body mechanical failure is a very common issue across many Ford vehicle platforms and the NHTSA has done the American consumer a disservice by allowing Ford to continue repairing these vehicles only when the throttle body unit fails. Instead the NHSTA should be forcing Ford to pre-emptively recall these vehicles and replace the faulty throttle bodies before more unnecessary fatalities occur.

The brake fluid warning light was illuminated. After adding brake fluid to the vehicle, moments later the warning light illuminated again. The contact stated there was no evidence of a brake fluid leak. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. After performing a VIN search, the contact became aware that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

Vehicle will lose all power and acceleration. Must pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. Turn vehicle back on and it works fine. This happens intermittently but consistently keeps happening. Code from vehicle states Electronic Throttle Body Issue

While attempting to accelerate, was not able to. Vehicle lost all power. Had to pull over and turn vehicle off and then back on. Happened twice in about 15 minutes. This is the 3rd time in 2 years this has occurred. Brought into repair facility and the issue is the throttle body.
