I am the owner of a 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat equipped with a 10-sp transmission. In late 2021, early 2022 - whiled the vehicle still had warranty - I reported to a Ford dealership that the transmission was experiencing harsh shifting and jerking. At that time, I was informed that no issue could be identified. I complained of this each time I took the vehicle into the dealer for an oil change. After the warranty expired on this vehicle in 2023, the condition worsened. By 2024, the transmission began intermittently shifting into neutral while the vehicle was in motion. This occurred both when accelerating through lower gears (notably between 3rd, 4th, and 8th,9th) and while driving at highway speeds. These incidents created serious safety risks. On multiple occasions, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral while changing lanes on the interstate highway. The vehicle RPMs spiked and I was unable to regain power and had to maneuver to the shoulder while a semi-truck traveling at high speed approached from behind. This placed me in a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. On another occassion, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral while I was proceeding through intersections after a green light, leaving me without power, and unable to shift back into drive in active traffic. There were no service, or warning lights on prior to these failures. The issues occurred suddenly without notice, creating unpredictable and hazardous conditions. Warning indicators only appeared after the condition progressed where the vehicle became un-driveable. Two dealers have since inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the internal transmission components have failed. I was advised that a full transmission replacement is necessary. The issue has occurred multiple times and has progressively worsened since it was first reported under warranty. There was failure to identify and address safety risks sooner and this is extremely concerning. This is a known issue!

4/10/26 - I left my neighborhood to turn right, from a stop, onto a 55 mph highway. Headed to the grocery store, with my 6-month old daughter. The trucks transmission (F150 10R80 10 speed) would not shift any higher than 2nd gear, of 10 gears. This caused the truck to not accelerate at a reasonable speed and only do about 15mph. Two cars behind me nearly collided with me as I could not achieve or maintain speed. I quickly adjusted the steering and pulled the truck over on the grass shoulder. This avoided any accidents and only scared myself, my daughter, and two other drivers behind me. My daughter and I could have easily been severely wounded or killed. I did not know or expect the transmission would suddenly fail. This failure to change gears or hard shifts is a classic symptom of the Ford 10R80 transmissions CDF drum failure. Ford knows about this issue and refuses to recall these vehicles or repair them unless they are under warranty. My truck has 85k miles, just outside the 60k mile warranty. My neighbor with two small children has the same truck with the same issue, also potentially endangering their lives. This should be a forced recall by Ford to protect everyone on the road.

Transmission Gear Failure VEHICLE: 2019 Ford F-150 MILEAGE: 67,000 ?Description of Incident: I am reporting a catastrophic internal mechanical failure of the 10R80 transmission. While driving, the vehicle emitted a strong, pungent odor of burnt transmission fluid followed by a total loss of gear engagement. The failure was sudden and occurred without a "Check Engine" light or warning, leaving the vehicle stranded in a dangerous position in active traffic. ?Technical Assessment of Cause: Upon professional teardown, it was determined that the internal gear sets were severely damaged and required full replacement. The transmission fluid was heavily oxidized (burnt), and the planetary gear assemblies showed signs of extreme thermal distress and mechanical chipping. This indicates a failure of the internal lubrication system or a structural defect in the gear hardening process, leading to metal-on-metal contact and total component failure at only 67,000 miles. ?Safety Concern: The suddenness of this gear failure creates a significant risk of a "stalled vehicle" scenario in high-speed environments. Furthermore, a mechanical gear failure carries the risk of internal components fracturing and potentially locking the rear wheels, which could lead to a complete loss of vehicle control. This is a premature failure of a major powertrain component that is advertised to last the life of the vehicle.

I have had 3 complete failures of the door lock actuator motors and a 4th that’s beginning to malfunction on and off. Not only is it an inconvenience for me to lock or unlock my vehicle by key fob or utilizing internal control switches It is very unsafe that vehicle will not automatically lock when put into drive.

After a recall repair was performed on my vehicle at Central Ford on 3/5/2026, the check engine light came on right afterward. Since that time, I have returned the vehicle to the dealership for repair on three separate occasions. My vehicle is still at the dealer now. The dealership has had my vehicle for a total of approximately seven weeks across these visits. Despite multiple repair attempts, the issue has not been resolved, and the check engine light remains on and continues to return the same day the dealer claims it has been fixed. The dealership has been unable to provide a permanent fix or clear explanation for the ongoing problem. I am concerned that the recall repair was either performed improperly or has resulted in a new defect affecting the vehicle’s reliability and potentially its safety. At this point, my vehicle remains unreliable and may not be safe to operate. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as the recall remedy appears to be ineffective in my case. Repair history and documentation are available upon request.

Grinding noise on startup. Goes away after warmup. Ford Dealer just reported that I need a $6,500 engine repair. I’ve owned this truck since brand new in 2019. Always have done routine maintenance. This clearly is a quality issue.

Transmission hard shifting then when shifting to 8th gear stops pulling causes engine to rev. When stopped the Transmission won't down shifting to 1st gear. Sticking in 7th gear . Truck won't move. While traveling it suddenly will shift from 10th gear back to 7th . Stops pulling at that point. Then goes into 8th.
