2019 FORD F-150 Complaints

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 10th to 7th gear, causing the vehicle to jerk and hesitate to accelerate as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over, turned off, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the transmission; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

Certain Ford vehicles (e.g., my 2019 Ford F150 Platinum) have a front camera with a pressurized washer. When the windshield wiper fluid spray is operated, the camera washer sprays washer fluid from the reservoir onto the camera as well as the windshield. However, the camera spray system has a check-valve that leaks, draining the windshield washer fluid reservoir. When a driver needs to clean the windshield using the spray, the reservoir is empty, resulting in an uncleanable windshield whilst driving. This can be very dangerous when, for example, in snowy conditions, a big-rig splashes dirt laden snow on a windshield. The wipers activate, smearing the windshield with dirt, sand, salt etc., and snow that can block the entire windshield. One can think of many similar scenarios where a driver's vision/road visibility can be compromised in this manner. Ford is aware of this issue and has published a technical service bulletin, 20-2267, that identifies which Ford models are affected and how the repair is undertaken. However, as the grill and several other front-end body components must be removed to affect the repair it is very expensive; most owners will not have this repair done. Note that there is no indication that the check valve has leaked and drained the reservoir, leaving the driver to find out at a critical time there is no way to clean the windshield while driving.

The 10 speed transmission has the well known hard shifting, clunking noise, and delayed acceleration issues that 2017-2019 f150,s have.

The engine revved and experienced rapid acceleration. The transmission shifted into reverse(R) one time, and the contact reversed into a parking space and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart and shift into gear afterwards. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The contact was informed that there may be water in the fuel line and to allow the vehicle to run out of fuel to drain the water. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, who determined that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,500.

It seems when the truck has been driven more than an a half hour to an hour and you shut the truck off the truck won't start back up. I believe the starter gets what they call heat soaked, then you have to wait until the truck cools down then I will start normal

I own a 2019 Ford F-150 equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. The vehicle has developed a loud rattling noise during startup along with an illuminated check engine light. The vehicle was diagnosed by Family Ford of Enfield as having a failure in the timing system, including cam phasers, timing chain, tensioners, and guides. The estimated repair cost is approximately $5,000. This issue appears to be a widespread and well-documented problem affecting 2017–2020 Ford F-150 vehicles with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. The failure of cam phasers and timing components can lead to improper engine timing, rough operation, and potential engine damage. I am concerned that this condition could worsen over time and potentially lead to engine failure while driving, creating a safety risk. Despite this being a known issue, no recall or adequate assistance has been provided. I am submitting this complaint so that this recurring problem can be investigated further for potential safety implications and manufacturer responsibility.

While driving on the highway on 02/20/2026 at approximately 152,000 miles, my 2019 Ford F-150 3.0L Power Stroke diesel caught fire and was completely destroyed. The day before the fire (02/19/2026), the FordPass app logged an electrical system error that self-cleared the same day. Believing the issue resolved itself, I continued normal operation. The following day the vehicle caught fire on the highway and was a total loss. Ford's own telematics system captured the fault code prior to the fire. I am filing this complaint to formally document this incident and believe this represents a product defect.
