RE: Safety Recall 16S24 Why is my 2014 F-150 not covered under Ford's safety recall (16S24) of a defective brake master cylinder? 16S24 covers defective master cylinders for the 3.5L V-6 Ecoboost engine, but not the 3.7L V-6 engine. Upon further research, it appears that both the aforementioned engines use the same master cylinder. See Motorcraft part no. BRMC203 (Brake Master Cylinder). According to Ford, the master cylinders' rear seal fails, thus leaking brake fluid into the attached brake power booster which causes pedal fatigue and possible loss of front brakes. My F-150 has a 3.7L V-6 engine, which is not covered under the recall. However, my F-150 is exhibiting the same master cylinder failure as is referenced in 16S24. My master cylinder has leaked into the power booster and the vacuum line attached the power booster has siphoned all brake fluid into the engine (approximately 60 ounces). The engine then expelled said brake fluid into the exhaust system causing white smoke to emit from the tail pipe. When the battery dies and the vehicle doors are locked you can not unlock the door with the physical key. Doors will not open. I am thankful I was not inside or I would have to break the window to get out.

While driving down the highway, the transmission line rapidly failed and caused the vehicle to stop the motor. This was a sudden and rapid loss of transmission fluid and we were very lucky to be able to control the vehicle over to the side of the road. There were ZERO indicator lights to indicate a transmission fluid leak or issue prior to this sudden issue. When researching online, a Ford Certified Technician confirms that there is one VERY specific place on the transmission lines that ALWAYS breaks on the 6R80 transmissions. It is where the line bends upward to an aluminium quick connect that has failed and does fail on a LOT of these vehicles. Photographic evidence sent to me by my mechanic proved that my lines failed in the exact same place. The video of this issue that was posted by a Ford technician can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=xk8tBqh0Q7Y This is a huge safety issue as there is no warning before this fitting fails entirely. We were extremely lucky we were able to get to the side of the road safely.
