2019 FORD F-150 Complaints

10R80 Transmission downshift from 4-3 hard. Put in reverse hesitate then hard engagement.

When in drive at any speed the transmission slips and/or jerks as it's switching gears. It is "sluggish" gaining speed at this time especially when accelerating from a stopped position making it dangerous to enter traffic. You never know if when it's going to happen. We have taken this vehicle several times checking for a recall and told there isn't one and it'll cost us thousands to fix. This started occuring less than 1 year after purchasing.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated when the vehicle was started, the contact noticed a fuel leaking sound. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was confirmed to be a fuel leak. The contact was informed that the failure was due to rodents. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred twice, and this was the third time the rodents had chewed through a fuel line. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from tenth gear to third gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, the vehicle was shifted into park and back to drive and the vehicle drove; however, the vehicle was not driving smoothly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a weak and low battery. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. On another occasion, the vehicle started stalling and downshifted unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

Unexpected gear downshift, gears slamming into gear, gears not shifting properly

When coasting from approximately 30 to 20 mph vehicle will hard downshift from gears 4,3, 2. On the highway, when I need to accelerate to avoid other vehicles that are driving unsafe I will step on the accelerator and transmission will hesitate. Has been more than one occasion when transmission has hestited, hard shifted to different level and has at one occasion randomly shifted to first gear before jumping back to 8th. This appears to be a common issue with Ford's 10R80 transmissions.

On several occasions since I bought the truck new it has experienced hard transmission downshifts for no reason. Had the truck to Ford and they couldn't replicate the problem so nothing was done to fix it.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the recall was repaired, and a software update was performed. The contact stated that on the same day, while driving approximately 20 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, and DTC: P0430 was retrieved. The mechanic also advised the contact that a catalytic converter cleaner should be added. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure reoccurred approximately one week later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The transmission shifted into the fourth gear, then to the eighth gear. The shifter became stuck in fourth gear. The vehicle jerked and hesitated and shifted into neutral without driver input. The message to see the Owner’s Manual light was illuminated but turned on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that it was a characteristic of the transmission and not a failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. Additionally, there were metal shavings in the clutch fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was not available.

Driving down the freeway at 80 MPH with my cruise control set at 80 MPH when my truck suddenly shifted from 10th gear down to first.
