2020 FORD F-350 SD Complaints

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly downshifted and the vehicle lost motive power. After the failure, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program 21B03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Truck's power door lock actuators are failing and fail to unlock the doors via remote or the interior door(s) electric unlock button(s). The only way to open the door is via exterior key (if you happen to have it accessible) or if you pull the vehicle's interior door handle, which then "pops" the door lock button. This failure is alarming as in the event of an emergency, access to the interior cab of the vehicle can not be gained from the exterior without a key. Similarly, access to the interior of the cab can only be provided when one squeezes, or pulls, the vehicle's interior door handle. If a driver/passenger is incapacitated for some emergent reason, there is no easy way to gain rapid access to the passenger compartment without extrication type equipment. From my on-line research it appears that Ford has had previous problems with this and actually acknowledge this through Ford Customer Satisfaction Program(s) 20M04, 19N06, 18N03. Appreciate any assistance and insight you may be able to provide.

While traveling to and from New Orleans from New Jersey I had 12 incidents of the Ford Death Wobble. The first time I was traveling at 70 mile per hour when I hit a bump in the road and the wobble started. I was able to slow to about 30 miles per hour and the wobble stopped. Over the 2500 miles traveled I experienced this wobble at speeds as slow as 55 miles per hour. I will be taking my vehicle to the Ford dealer I purchased it from to see if they can help. Right now I am afraid to drive faster that 55 mile per hours for fear I my hit some kind of bump that will start this wobble and cause me to loose control of my truck.

The transmission 10R140 skip, jumps and hesitation when driving in any gear. The transmission jumps forward when backing up with out of control Function and driver un able to control vehicle. There was a safety recall on this transmission on the 10R140 with the 6.7 diesel truck. My truck is a 6.2 liter gas engine with the same Transmission 10R140 built in the same plant and same time frame as the safety recall 22S22 as stated in this letter attached. My transmission has failed and is a safety problem as addressed in this letter

"Death Wobble"- At a speed of run 50 miles per hour. Going around the curve my steering will begin to shake violently. Also a handful of other times it shook in the same way after hitting a bump in the road. Once I slowed down it corrected itself.

*Component or system: the transmission (10R140) on my F350 Truck has failed. The transmission has been inspected by a Ford service tech shop at dealership. * The truck would jump gear and jump or jolt when backing up., slight pause in power when driving truck at any speed. * The truck is at a Ford Dealership at this time. The service tech said this transmission needs to be replaced, it is unsafe to drive. The truck was bought brand new and only has 73,000 miles *The truck has been inspected by a Ford service tech for the transmission *The problem was happening on & off at times, but recently a warning lite came on 10/29/2023 which would come on & off at times I see that there was a safety recall 22S22 on this transmission 10R140 for super duty trucks built in 2020. The letter from Ford written by David J Johnson director of service engineering operation, dated September 23, 2022. This letter stated trucks built in the Kentucky Truck assembly plant between October 1, 2019 through September 21, 2020 the 10R140 transmission the pinion thrust washers can disintegrate with a defected part. Per the Vin number my truck was built at the above Kentucky plant on February 20, 2020 with this 10R140 Transmission. My Truck is built with a 6.2 L gas engine with the 10R140 transmission F350 Super Duty. The service tech said this is the same Transmission put in the diesel engine trucks. So if there is a safety recall 22S22 on the 10R140 transmission defect why was my truck not listed on this safety recall notice. My truck has the 10R140 transmission and has the same problems as mentioned in the above letter. Please let me know how to address the above issue. The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45–55 MPH and driving over a bump in the roadway, the contact experienced the death wobble. The contact was unable to hold onto the steering wheel. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the repair was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that door latches on both sides of the truck have failed to properly secure the doors. The contact stated that the doors on both sides of the vehicle would shake while driving at various speeds. The dealer was notified of the failure and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle and was out of warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The engine failed on our 2020 F350 at 75,989 miles of normal usage. We only purchased this vehicle used May 2, 2023 from a Ford dealership in Michigan and drove it 5K miles when the check engine light came on. It is currently AT the Ford dealership in Olympia Washington getting a new engine at a cost of $13K. Per the Ford service representative in text, the issue was "There is internal damage in the motor and metal in the oil from the camshaft being damaged." We were told that an engine valve failed, the initial error code was P03035. We are understandably very frustrated that such a young truck/engine failed.

Additionally, on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced a loss of motive power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.
