2016 FORD FUSION Complaints

While traveling at a high rate of speed of 75 mph, on the highway, my brakes failed, the brake pedal was pushed to the floor. The car was hesitant to shift/accelerate. Upon trying to get some type of braking remedy i almost crashed from off the bridge that i was trying to merge on to. upon trying to stop the car i went up a small grade which brought the car to a stop with the emergency brake on. While out of the vehicle the back, driver side caliber caught flame with bluish and greenish flames from the brake fluid coming out, being the metal was at an extreme temperature. I thankfully had my children's drinks/slushies in the car to throw on the flame to stop the spread and to put the flames out. I had to call for a tow truck to get myself and children off the side of the highway. After a $172.98 bill, the car was towed home. I contacted the dealership, which was then told i was responsible to pay and have it towed yet again to the dealerships lot. I have contacted the ford manufacture customer service line, dealership and the number for the recall notice multiple times to get my car fixed and have yet to receive adequate help in doing so.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

My ecoboost Ford Engine in my 2016 Fusion leaks coolant into my 1, 3 and 4 cylinders, over heated, smoke coming out of exhaust, using coolant. I took it to the Ford dealer to have it checked out when all of a sudden while driving the red temp light went off and my check engine light started blinking with a warning light saying critical temperature and I had to pull off side of highway, they said it needs a new motor, he also said it was common for this size engine to have issues, Ford had been dealing with that it was a design flaw............yet they won't fix it free or recall it. they want $8500 for a new engine, which I can't afford, so a car I own and owe on just sits undriveable. He said they offered an extended warranty to replace the short block on 2017 -2019 but mine is 2016 so no extra help was given to people who owned that year, even though its the same engine, flaws and all.

When audio system is turned on or volume is turned on, loud cracking booming and static noise comes through at random moments. More noise occurs while driving 55+ but still occurs when idiling. The audio occurrence has almost caused several accidents since its loud ear piercing noises that comes from speakers. I have taken it to the ford technician to no avail. Due to other forums this is a issue with most fusions. The noises started occurring after my back up camera was replaced.

The failure mileage was approximately 110,500.

The contact stated that while attempting to slow the vehicle, the temperature gauge began to indicate that the engine was overheating, after which the contact observed excessive smoke coming from the exhaust. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that coolant intrusion had damaged the engine, and the engine needed to be replaced. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N12. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 116,000.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where the mechanic diagnosed that engine coolant was present inside cylinder #2. The engine short block was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. Recently while the contact’s son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that coolant was again present inside cylinder #2, and the engine needed to be repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure and needed the same repair on two separate occasions. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 68,146.

My drivers side door will not latch closed due to cracking from extreme heat. When I try and shut my door it doesn't latch and pops open.

Additionally, the display indicated that the front driver's side door was always open. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 72,541.

Coolant leaking into engine, causing low engine coolant levels, and affecting performance. Ongoing problem for a while, officially diagnosed on 6/21/2024.
