2012 FORD FUSION Complaints

Did not put car into park and was able to turn key fully back and remove the key from the off position. Car started rolling on slight incline. No issues other than rain sensor wipers not always working, so maybe an issue in column. Have not taken to dealership or mechanic yet.

Shortly after a having the rear brake pads replaced, I noticed that the handbrake (or e-brake) would lose tension over night, but not always. Since this was occasional, then it appeared to be a hydraulic issue. About three months later (9/15/22), the brake pedal stopped working correctly and the pedal had to travel further, and be pushed to the floor to bring the car to a gradual stop. I almost went into the back of another vehicle, it's fortunate that I was travelling at a low speed when the brake failed. I took the vehicle to my Ford dealer/service shop and, following their inspection and diagnostic assessment, was told that there is a problem with the hydraulic control unit (HCU), and that the it would need to be replaced and the lines flushed. My vehicle is a 2012 Fusion. This sounds like the same HCU problem that lead to the recall for 2006-2010 Ford Fusion vehicles - refer Ford Motor Company (Ford) Recall No. 19S54 - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RMISC-19V904-0442.pdf Per linked pdf, the NHTSA opened EA18-002 and included inquiry of 2006-2012 Fords Fusion vehicles. It appears that only the older 2006-2010 models were included in the recall. However, as the newer (2012) models reach a similar mileage or age, it may worth reevaluating and extending the scope of the recall in the interest of safety for the traveling public. Had the brake failed while traveling a higher speed, then my life, my children's lives and others would have been at risk.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while making a right turn at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became firm. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the power steering needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the recall was related to the driver’s side air bag and not the passenger’s side air bag. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The power steering assist fault code came on the dash, I since had the car at the dealership and was told it was covered and would be repaired 2 days later I got a call telling me it was gonna cost $1801.00 this problem came on suddenly and could of caused a deadly accident was told at dealership that repaired it that the warranty ran out after 10 years the car is a 2012 and warranty ran out a few months ago but this being a major steering problem and could cause a major accident or fatality(s) I believe this should have been a major recall but as owner of this vehicle there was never any outreach from the dealership on this steering problem

The car suddenly accelerated 3 times since it was purchased new in 2011. The 1st time I was parking and the car suddenly accelerated and hit a cement wall. The second time I was also entering a parking spot and the car suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree. I took it to my dealer and they were unable to replicate the problem. this was in 2015. On 9/13/2022 I was about to make a right turn and suddenly the car accelerated at high speed and crossed over the road onto the golf course before I was able to slow it down. I immediately parked the car and haven't driven it since. I feel that it is unsafe to drive especially since the dealer was unable to identify the problem.

My car was under a recall to have power steering gear replaced and ford will not fix it. The wheel is so hard I can barely move it .

My drivers side door handle will only work from the outside I was told to contact the highway safety admin because it’s technically a safety issue if I had and emergency and had to hurry up and exit my vehicle. It’s like jammed or something and doesn’t lock until I manually lock an lock my door but I’m unable to get out from the inside safety and I was already in a car accident once in my life I would really like to get my door handle fixed please

The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in an Extended Warranty coverage or NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer referred him to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 218,000.
