2016 FORD FUSION Complaints

My 2016 Ford Fusion with 90,000 miles has a coolant intrusion problem. This has caused my car to shake, smell, run terribly, hesitate while driving in traffic, almost losing power and now not starting. The first time I had trouble starting my car I took it to the Ford dealer that has always worked on my cars and was told I have a coolant intrusion issue. They said coolant leaked into a cylinder due to a design issue and there is no recall at this time. My service engine light would go on and off. When we called the dealer about the light going on and then not coming back on for weeks at a time they said when the light goes back on and stays on to call them and they would have a look. This started about 6 months ago. The light would only light up a couple of times and go back out. My car has not started since the beginning of April 2024. The dealer has quoted us $10,000 to fix this problem of a faulty designed motor.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion Energi. The contact stated there were metal shavings inside the transmission, and the transmission had previously been repaired twice under Warranty. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the Warranty being expired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 196,000.

The contact stated that while pulling out of the driveway, he observed a popping noise emanating from the engine compartment and the power steering assist failure warning light illuminated. Additionally, the steering wheel became stiff and did not operate as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Was driving and vehicle started to shake and lose speed. Check engine light came on. Checked and said misfire in cylinder 3. Took to mechanic and said coolant leaked into engine, plugs were corroded and heads cracked. Total engine replacement needed. Ford does not have recall for this year or model even though it's a widely known issue. I still have a loan on this car that I now can't drive as I don't have an extra $5000 to pay for an engine and my extended warranty won't cover it.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when placing the vehicle into park(P), there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Recently, the contact stated that upon placing the vehicle into park(P), the vehicle began to roll backwards as the gear shift indicator indicated that the vehicle was in reverse(R). The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was immediately informed that the failure was caused by the shifter cable bushing. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000(Power Train). The vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

Antifreeze is leaking into the engine and now the engine needs replaced. Ford is aware of faulty 2.0 turbo engines but has not recalled it. I bought an extended warranty and they won't cover it. I have been a Ford guy my whole life but that will change because Ford knows about the issue but won't do anything about it.

Vehicle after every single time we refuel have to press gas pedal to start afterwards it keeps stalling until you gun the acceleration to pick up speed. Vehicle after that runs okay until the next time you fuel up.

The driver side door latch will not close. This is apparently a recall being enforced in only certain states. My car was bought, and registered in Pennsylvania, and is not covered by the 2 previous recalls for this issue. I do not know why Ford won't cover a door latch repair. The door literally won't close, so the car is not secure and also cannot be driven in this condition. We've tried all methods to get the door to close, none work. Contacted both Ford Customer Service and our local Dealership Fred Beans Ford in Mechanicsburg, PA, and both refused to remedy the complaint.

Engine failure-yes, available for inspection The engine may fail at anytime leaving me and/or family stranded. Putting us in danger of being seriously injured or even killed. Yes, the dealer mechanic explained that the coolant was leaking into the head gasket/ block. He stated this was a known issue by Ford. He also stated that he would not drive the more than just home from the shop because otherwise we were at risk for stalling on the road. The vehicle had not been inspected by anyone. However, the state of Virginia requires an annual inspection which was completed on 02/29/24. Check engine light came on, took to a mechanic he replaced plugs. Light was off and car running fine. Check engine light came back in. We took it to the dealer the next day. The car was only driven to the dealer.

The engine cooling failed inside the block on cylinder #2. The cooling system is not operable and resulted in blue smoke under acceleration. The car is no longer under warranty and only has 65K miles on it and is otherwise in good working order. I am told the whole engine needs to be replaced.
