2016 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The low brake fluid level warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front brake hoses had ruptured. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not under warranty or recall. The failure mileage was approximately 93,530. The contact stated on September 15, 2023 the left front brake hose failed and luckily it happened at a low rate of speed.

I was driving to this morning and the check engine light started blinking and the car started to shake i looked it up and it said the engine was misfiring and what not. But it would shake when idling and driving. I had a loss of power and had to pull of the highway to avoid danger.

The contact stated that he also added coolant to the vehicle when his son arrived at the residence; however, upon checking the coolant level two days later, there was no coolant in the reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the cylinder head was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was related to the engine block. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal sound and became aware that when the brake was depressed, the brakes failed to operate as needed. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after reversing out of the driveway and then accelerating forward at approximately 30-40 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The speed was reduced to approximately 20 MPH and the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The check engine warning light started blinking. The contact stated that while on the way to the dealer, while the vehicle was idling at a red light, the vehicle failed to drive forward properly. The contact drove the vehicle at very slow speeds. The vehicle was overheating, and smoke was coming from the rear of the vehicle. The smoke settled once the vehicle had cooled down. The dealer diagnosed that there was a cylinder #3 misfire due to a fractured engine block. The spark plug and the ignition coil were replaced however, the check engine light illuminated shortly after and the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

The contact stated that she was able to slow the vehicle by driving up a hill. The contact stated she was able to use the parking brake to securely park the vehicle. The contact stated she was able to drive the vehicle to a local independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed but no brake pedal nor brake system failure was found. The contact was informed that the vacuum booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. one day my car randomly showed a sign that my engine was over heating. So I pulled over and was able to Uber to an auto part get more coolant for the car. Since that day forward I had to replenish the coolant at least every two weeks when I went to get a diagnostic they told me I had an internal coolant leak and that I was going to need a new engine and then also my head gasket was blown. I only had the car for a little under two years. As I did reasearch I realized this is a major problem among ford fusions and other ford cars in general. I believe ford knows all about this issue and the engine design being faulty.

Vehicle stalled multiple times at traffic lights in heavy traffic. Took vehicle to dealership and was told that engine coolant is leaking into the engine and the entire engine would have to be replaced at a cost of over $10,000. Called Ford Customer Service and was told that even though it's a known problem which is being reported by many customers they will not replace the engine or help with the cost.

The engine failed ( I was told by Lithia Springs Ford Dealership that coolant was leaking into the engine and now I have to replaced the whole engine). The guy "Richard" at the dealership immediately pointed out that coolant could be leaking into the engine when I told him that fluid was found on one of the spark plugs. He said that Ford Fusion with the size engine 1.5 have been having this problem alot. It is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of every other vehicle on the road was put at risk as I was driving and then my check engine light started blinking. My vehicle started vibrating hard and fast causing me to impede the flow of traffic on the interstate and almost get rear ended why driving in the far left lane (the fast lane). I immediately got off the interstate and slowly drove 5 mph to a Autozone and had the scanner check the vehicle. The code P0302 came up with fuel injectors and misfire in cylinder 2. The vehicle was towed to the dealership a few days later because it was not driveable. The dealership called me and confirmed the cylinder 2 was misfiring and it was due to coolant leaking into the engine. The vehicle was only inspected by Lithia Spring Ford Dealership. There was no warning lights, the engine went immediately to blinking and the engine started vibrating hard. This incident happened on Sunday 9/3/2023.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
