I have a 2022 Ford Maverick, 2.0 ecoboost engine, awd. I have been having brake problems since the beginning. The problem is the front brakes do not back out enough to leave a proper air gap between the brake pad and rotor when deactivating the service mode. Therefore the pads keep riding on the rotors causing glazing and grabby brakes when coming to a stop behind a vehicle. Turning off the active breaking did help with the grabby brakes when stopping behind a vehicle, but did not resolve the glazing issue. I took the truck into two dealerships and the techs. could not find a solution. the front calipers, front brake hoses and the brake master cylinder have been replaced with no success. Maybe the solution is to adjust the air gap settings somewhere in the software.

I got a letter from FORD about a 22C20 Recall of the side curtain airbag. January 2023 And I got a letter in the mail from Ford May 24 2023 and it says your 22C20 recall part is ready. I got an appointment from ford frontier June 1 2023 and when the dealer Service Advisor Jesus Labrada told me sorry, we don’t have a part for airbags. He told me the left side and right-side airbags need to be changed and we have just one side. He doesn’t take my car, he told me please call every 10 days to ask if we have a part or not. June 7 2023 I emailed Michael Marshall about the 22C 20 recall part. Do you have it and I got back to me and he said No part for recall yet. June 2023, I got another letter from Ford and Customer Satisfaction Program 22B39 about the vehicle, it may be possible a 12V battery connection may become loose, resulting in a no- start condition. June 2023, I got another letter from Ford about 23S27 on your vehicle, the engine could fail prematurely, in the event of an engine failure. And the letter says part may be available October 2023. Right now, I am not using this car, it’s just sitting in my driveway. It’s not safe for me, if engine fails and if I crash airbags are not working, I don’t want to make a risk to get me or someone else in the car to get a injury or die. I would like to return this Ford Maverick Truck for a full refund.

    * Grabby brakes at low speed and light braking. * it makes slow speed braking unpredictable. You push on the brakes and get very little braking, add more brakes and still very little braking, add more pressure and then suddenly you get extreme braking like slamming on the brakes. Brakes are not progressive at low speed. * Yes I've taken it to the ford dealer (Team Ford Lincoln in Las Vegas) at least 3 times for unrelated issues and every time I complain about the unpredictable braking and every time they claim they can't reproduce the issue. The Last time I even email them the ford service bulletin 22-2493 which talks about the Exhaust Gas Recirculation sensor and they say this sensor can contribute to brake grab. But even after they replaced the EGR sensor I still have gotten low speed brake grab. * I have over 30,000 miles on the truck now and the low speed brake grab has remained exactly the same since I bought it new. It happens probably once a week. Some additional info. Video about the issue. https://youtu.be/Fy7DRygWvG0 Forum post talking about the issue. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/tsb-22-2493-issued-for-2-5l-hybrid-maverick-grabby-brakes-at-or-below-6-2-mph.24977/ Ford need to address this issue because the inconsistent brakes in parking lot speeds is a serious problem that needs to be acknowledged and fixed.

The contact's son owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the dealer had not provided the diagnostic information to the contact and stated that they had ordered the parts for an unknown repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was included in Ford Campaign Number: 22B39, which she related to the failure. The manufacturer then followed up with the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Going at low speeds the brakes will lock up instantly. It happens completely randomly and can’t be predicted. I have cars beeping constantly in traffic when the car slams to a stop instantly. Also difficult to park or pull out safely after braking if they don’t unlock vehicle crawls out into traffic.

The brakes become stiff at low speeds especially when used frequently like stop or go traffic. The brakes will become stiff then unresponsive followed by a jolting grab by the breaks. There have been a few close calls parking and rolling to a stop and having the breaks being unresponsive. the problem is recurring and intermittent.
