2014 FORD TAURUS Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the steering wheel became stiff. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the steering gear box had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, the manufacturer offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 32,600. The contact stated that their vehicle had low mileage and was also manufactured in 2013 therefore it should've been repaired under the recall.

NOTICED SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID UNDER CAR. CHECKED LEVEL IN COOLANT RESEVOIR. FOUND FLUID LEVEL LOW ADDED COOLANT TO PROPER LEVEL. CHECKED LEVEL A FEW DAYS LATER FOUND LOW AGAIN. DROVE TO MECHANIC SHOP TO HAVE CHECKED. WATER PUMP FAILURE. WATER PUMP IS INTERNAL ON 3.6 FORD TAURUS. REPAIRED AND REPLACED AT A COST OF $1835.00. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS 77,000 MILES.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the coolant reservoir level was low. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the water pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. While traveling at 55 MPH, entered a curve my steering completely locked up causing me to collide with the guard rail. Not only was I put in danger but everyone traveling Kentucky 114 that day was as well. There have been several complaints on the same make and model cars and Ford has done nothing to correct it. There was no warning lights no anything. My car was total and my life was at risk, when Ford was well aware of the steering problems.

The driver was able to add coolant to the reservoir, restarted the vehicle, and drove to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the water pump and timing chain had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The dealer diagnosed that the water pump and timing chain needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle suddenly stalled, and the engine would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump module had failed and needed to be replaced. The fuel pump module was replaced, and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V621000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The car was inspected by Ford. The fuel pump driver module needed to be replaced. I made it home for my break. When I was leaving. The car would crank but wouldn’t turn on.

The contact's aunt owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that his aunt noticed a puddle of fluids underneath the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that coolant was leaking from the water pump. The contact was informed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case number was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Pulling into my personal parking space I applied brake to slow down and come to a complete stop. Car accelerated to an uncontrollable speed, jumped the curb and continued flying whe I constantly applied brakes (approximately 40 yrds) missing the 100 yr old oaks and palm trees. This occurred beginning of July 2022. Happened again 1 week ago as I was pulling into parking space directly behind a parked car. As I approached parking space with my break slowing me down to enter spot the car accelerated as above. Thin time I was able to swerve left to avoid slamming into the car in the parking space which was in front of me. Thank God there were no cars at that the on the road.
