2022 GMC SIERRA 1500- Thicket, TX
The vehicle’s shift control module in the transmission is malfunctioning. The vehicle is shifting hard and having trouble finding the gears. The safety issue is that this is a known GMC transmission malfunction with the risk that the rear wheels can lock up when downshifting in the higher gears. Sudden rear wheels lock up proses a risk to cause an accident on the roadway potentially harming the driver and passengers in the defective vehicle as well as risking other drivers on the road. No warnings were given before the malfunction. The vehicle has been regularly serviced on time and taken care of. The malfunction began and within one week the vehicle progressed to shifting so hard I didn’t feel comfortable driving it especially with my child in tow.

My daughter and I drove to town to run some errands, we live twenty-three minutes away and take the freeway. Speed limit on that specific section of the freeway (I80) is 80mph. As I was taking the on-ramp to enter traffic, My GMC started shifted very hard and losing power. The vehicle was sputtering and making strange sounds. I was unable to exceed 60mph due to excessive vibrations/shaking the vehicle. Steering was starting to be difficult at the same time I noticed Oil Pressure Gauge slowly dropping on instrument panel below 25psi. I had to pull over immediately. oil pressure remained lower than normal, verified Oil was filled to manufactures specifications (changed June 30, 2025). Returned the vehicle to my place of residence as safe and slow as I possibly could and parked it as it is a major safety concern.

My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 shows message "Shift To Park" when turning off, even though it has been shifted to park. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. Locking it with remote works most of the time but this last time it took over 10 minutes .

Unloaded my Denali at huge loss with 30,000 miles because gm wouldn’t fix recall after many times in shop, broke down on freeway, and need to travel to Canada on business. Canada won’t allow vehicles with open safety recalls to enter country even though im pretty sure engine was MADE in Canada. Gm corporate office told me there’s nothing they can do. While in shop for 4 days of testing i watched vehicle on app, never started, moved, just put out back for 4 days then told absolutely nothing. Just wanted fair trade in for diesel. Truck looked identical to brand new on lot, 10/10 except engine recall. Gm promised to reimburse rental fees when broke down a week or so, submitted documents to Gm, nothing recieved. Bought ram instead for obvious reasons. Is there a lemon law, class action, agency etc that can help compensate for losses? The public should be warned!
