I suddenly lost all power in my pickup. I'd try to accelerate and it would just lag and then all of a sudden it would gain power and take off. It wouldn't shift gears and I could not go over 30 mph, as it was running at about 2-3000 rpm. Once I was in a safe spot to stop, it would not shift into manual or reverse.

03/08/2025 While at Interstate speed engine turned off as did the entire vehicle electrical system in the truck. Steering control was maintained (though not power assisted) and brake control was in the same position. Truck was brought to a safe position in the breakdown lane and a re start was attempted to find that engine would not rotate and a number of dash indications were displayed including check engine. No indication of low oil pressure light nor any other warning was displayed prior engine shutdown event were noted. Truck was taken to an independent repair center for evaluation. Initial inspection noted that engine would neither turn via electric starter nor by manual rotation of crank shaft with a socket and breaker bar. Truck may be inspected near owners residence. Safety risk was low due to the low traffic condition of the interstate travelled at the time.

The transmission on this vehicle has given me problems. I have had the vehicle in a certified garage many times with complaints of a hard shifting transmission. First Chevrolet told me “it’s normal” but there is nothing normal about jerking so hard it throws a drink from a cup holder. Then I was told I needed a transmission wash. That was about $500 for it to “fix” the problem. Chevrolet told me the transmission was may or may not work and it may only be temporary. In my case it has reduced the hard shifting transmission but it’s still obvious. Now when I drive I remove my foot from the accelerator when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. I also make sure to keep a spill proof lid on my coffee because I never know when the transmission may throw it out of the cup holder.

Driving down the road dash lit up to push start and truck shifted in to neutral. Pulled off the road and put in park. Engine would not start again. Dash kept lighting up with push start, turning off non essential to preserve battery. Called tow truck. They tried jumping, not the battery. Had to drag the vehicle on the flat bed because could not put in neutral. Drag and drop off the flat bed at the dealer. That was Friday. On Monday got the call the engine had seized. 34k miles Had just returned from a 2k mile trip with construction zones down to one lane and nowhere to pull off. Glad it didn’t happen there!

Driving at highway speed the upper part of the front grill assembly detached at the hood, hitting the windshield on the drivers side causing the windshield to shatter in front of the driver. The piece flew back and hit the car behind me. This would have been an accident with a less experienced driver

Truck was going into the shop for general maintenance when the engine stopped working just as we pulled into the dealership. The dealership towed the vehicle in to diagnose the issue and we were told the engine has blown. No warning, nothing. The vehicle went into the shop in December and still GMC cannot offer any lead time on when they can repair the engine.
