2022 GMC SIERRA 1500 Complaints

Tailgate open/clise module continues to open without me hitting the auto release device in the truck OR fob. NOTE: GMC built in Quebec! It resulted in a call to the dealership this spring, an inspection and they indicated it was fine. The tailgate opened while I was parking my new Airstream and it caused damage to the propane tanks and tanks cover AND $1700 damage to my tailgate.

This has now happened twice. While driving down the road, my radio has went to full volume and continues to go back to full volume, even if I twist the volume control knob quickly to lower the volume. This is a very scary situation while driving down the road and your radio goes to 100% volume out of the blue. There is no warning and the volume just goes to 100%

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 80 MPH, the vehicle skidded approximately 100 yards; however, there was no impact to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the front driver's side upper control arm and ball joint had fractured, causing the front driver's side wheel to become wedged beneath the subframe. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer advised the contact to contact the insurance company to have the vehicle inspected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

“Faulty fuel pump driver module” part Not available for inspection. Repaired at dealership and they kept the part. While driving 75 mph on the interstate during high traffic time my GMC Sierra 3.0 diesel truck engine shut completely down, not just once but on several occasions putting myself and three other in a life safety situation due to the traffic around us at the time. I had to navigate the truck through traffic and off the road. Once there the vehicle was turned off allowed to sit for a few minutes and restarted. The vehicle would restart and we continued only to have this scenario repeated again several times. Faulty fuel module was diagnosed by mechanic at dealership and replaced. Part was not inspected by no one to my knowledge except the mechanic. There was no prior warnings before this incident happened. After the incident the engine light came on with a message that stated check ESC.

I was driving down the highway at 65 when the upper front hood molding flew off and bounced off my windshield. There were motorcycles behind me but none were hit. After researching on [XXX] , many others have had the same thing happen. This could have broken my windshield, or worse, hit a motorcyclist behind me causing a wreck. While driving, I turned the volume on the radio a couple clicks louder using the steering wheel controls. After I stopped pushing the volume button on the steering wheel, it continued to rapidly increase volume until it maxed out. It was incredibly loud, in a panic, I verified the VOL+ button was not stuck. The VOL- on the steering wheel did not reduce the volume. I spun the volume button down, on the radio, but it would instantly return to full volume the moment I stopped spinning it. The power button on the radio also had no effect. I was driving at 50mph and had no way to reduce the volume from the max, which was incredibly distracting to say the least. I was finally able to get it to stop by pulling out my phone (which was connected via CarPlay) and hitting the pause button on my phone. Afterwards it behaved as normal, but my man did my ears hurt. Luckily there wasn’t any traffic nearby as I could hardly focus on the road while fumbling with the audio.

The contact owned a 2022 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle went into safe engine mode and stopped. The vehicle attempted to restart without application multiple times. There was an abnormal grinding sound detected. The contact pushed the start/stop button, and thirty seconds later, the contact noticed white smoke from the engine, and the vehicle caught fire.  There were no warning lights illuminated. The occupants were able to exit the vehicle. There were no reported injuries, crashes or police reports filed. the air bags deployed due to the fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance agent conducted an independent investigation and found that the wire harness in the engine was hot and severed the fuel line. There was fuel in the engine. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was contacted, who took possession of the vehicle from the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the contact observed a loud sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel then pulled to the right. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was awaiting a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

MY TRUCK HAS THE PRO TAILGATE AND THE INNER GATE HAS COME OPEN SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS STOP OPENNING ON IT OWN NOW, BUT IT WILL NOT OPEN BY THE BUTTON ON THE TAIL GATE. IT SEEMS GM IS AWARE THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT ONLY ISUED A RECALL ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND NOT ALL TRUCKS WITH THE PRO TAILGATE,

On June 8th I started my truck and it made a strange unfamiliar noise before starting. I thought it was bizarre. Shortly after I stopped in traffic and my truck stalled out. It stayed on but when I went to give it gas I didn’t move. So I restarted the engine and the same strange noise was made. Along with the noise I smelled something funny so I pulled into a gas station. Little did I know my truck was on fire. I got the vehicle away from the gas pumps and within 5 minutes the whole truck was on fire. Before this fire I had brought the vehicle in for service due to a check engine light multiple times the codes will be listed below. I also had an interlock device installed in the truck at the time.
