2023 GMC SIERRA 1500 Complaints

Driving on the highway and the top section of the grill (approx 4" x 50") broke loose and went over the cab of the truck. The piece didn't hit my truck or any other vehicle, but the driver behind me swerved to avoid it. All of the clips that hold the chrome piece to the vehicle are still attached to the body. I made contact with the local dealer's service dept. and was told my VIN was not in a recall for this issue. I contacted GM customer care and was told the recall hasn't been extended to my vehicle and that I would have to pay for the replacement. IF GM extends the recall to the other known issue model years I could be reimbursed. There seems to be numerous other complaints of this issue that aren't covered by GM.

Start engine light came on while driving. The truck did a dead stop in the middle of the road. Tried to restart but nothing. A tow truck was called and the truck was dropped off at the local GMC dealer. The next day the dealer called me and told me I need a new engine.39,000 miles

I was driving at 65mph through a construction zone on my local freeway - through a construction zone. With cruise control on, my upper bezel portion of my grill detached. It slammed into my windshield and hit the semi behind me after bouncing off the road. Luckily, neither of us swerved drastically. However, with workers in the area, this could have been a catastrophic event. After contacting my local GM dealership, I was told "yeah, that just kind of happens from time to time". When relaying that information to the GM Customer service team, they told me to ask for a courtesy credit from the dealership as I was out of warranty on bumper to bumper. There were no prior issues with this part on my truck that I was aware of leading up to this event. It additionally caused damage to my windshield and roof.

I was driving down the interstate and the hood valance blew off and hit my windshield

Digital Dash cluster lost all communication and only has backlight, no speed, fuel gauges, anything what so ever. Can become extremely dangerous if driving down the road without the knowing of speed and other levels such as oil pressure and fuel.

I took the truck in for a recall they notified me and said it failed the test and there was metal in the oil and said it needed a new engine

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on several occasions, the pedestrian warning alert unexpectedly illuminated. The contact stated that during the failure, the braking system became inoperable and then the brakes locked up, causing the contact and a passenger to suffer whiplash. The contact stated that there were no pedestrians near the vehicle when the failure had occurred. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the pedestrian detection system failed to display a warning when a pedestrian was near the vehicle, almost causing the vehicle to strike the pedestrian. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to an electrical anomaly and a hardware failure. The contact was advised that an over-the-air update might be issued to address the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

After completion of recall repair, changing oil weight from 0w20 to 0w40, I encountered loud squealing and knocking sounds from the engine bay. As catastrophic failure has been reported the vehicle was immediately taken to the closest GM dealership, Southern Chevrolet of Chesapeake, VA.

I took my truck in for routine maintenance. When i got it back and turn the truck on, the instrument cluster was completely black. I couldn't get it to turn on. I went back into the dealer and informed them of the issue. The claimed they had not done anything electrical The dealer has told me that they are not sure why it has stopped working but they did let me know they had to replace several instrument clusters with other customers. I am unsure if they had paid for the replacement or not. I've looked online as well and seen multiple GMC truck owners having the same issue and getting their instrument clusters replaced as well. I've noticed this is happening with 2022 models and above. Please look into. Thank you

I brought this truck brand new. Had issues the first couple days of purchase that was a quick fix, but as time went on things got worse. Truck always stalling out, engine has been replaced once already due to a recall and months after the first replacement, it stalled out on me again in the middle of the freeway and I just got a call from the dealership that it needs another new engine! How is this right! How is this safe! I could've lost my life on every occasion it has happened.
