2011 GMC TERRAIN Complaints

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH with the windshield wipers in use, the contact attempted to use the high setting for the windshield wipers and the driver’s side windshield wiper detached and struck the driver’s side mirror. The contact stated that the windshield wiper was replaced. The failure recurred three times. The dealer had not been informed of the failure. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

My wife and I on an Interstate Highway when the Check Engine light came on and the vehicle started slowing down. The message "Engine Power Reduced" came up on the dashboard display. My wife was driving and started pulling off the highway. As we left the driving surface, the car cut off. After a few minutes, the vehicle restarted and we drove home (about 12 miles). We took the vehicle to a mechanic who told us the oil was low. No low oil or low oil pressure lights had illuminated before this incident. He also stated that the timing chain would have to be changed and that this was a recurring problem on the GMC Terrain. I have not had any work done to the vehicle as yet. GMC should have a recall for this problem as I have seen many reports on the internet since it happened to us dating back over ten years.

2011 GMC Terrain SLT The engine blew do to timing Chain breaking and it tore up the injectors as i was looking it up there where lots of people with the same problem and when it blew i was on the Highway and almost wrecked. We put new engine. After putting the engine in the transmission seems like every gear you put it in is like neutral and reeding up on other complaints people are having the same problems it only has 80,000 miles No lights came on or Warnings

The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the timing chain and water pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle could no longer be started. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

2011 GMC TERRAIN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED. AT THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER TRADED THE VEHICLE IN AT A LOSS OF NEARLY 5,000.00. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE COMPENSATED FOR LOSS DUE TO DISCOVERING A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THE FAILURE.

my windshield wipers just suddenly stopped working during a rain storm. I managed to get home safely and after a quick search I was able to confirm this is a known problem with GMC Terrain's. It is talked about in Special Coverage N192266180. However this happened during a rain storm with limited visibility. So I am filing this complaint because GMC needs to issue a full blown recall and not a fix for after the windshield wiper system module breaks. Failed wipers during a storm could get people killed. I was lucky but others may not be. I took video of the wipers not working during the storm if you wish for me to send it to you.

Was driving the car and all of a sudden a bunch of lights came on the dash called the dealership where I got it from to get fix and they said sorry they can’t help and then have blocked my number from communication. I can’t drive my car so I don’t know what to do at this point

The service airbag warning light came on in the vehicle last week. I took the car to be serviced. Per service advisor, the passenger side seat air bag was out of spec. Air bag wire had to be repaired. The new wire would be available for inspection upon request. The safety of passengers in the car were at risk since the air bag had to be fixed.

Was driving home from work had a half tank of gas no lights or anything came on, car just shut off was not able to start it from that point. I spoke with car lot to whom I'm making payments with and not able to get anything done with the vehicle. Now I've lost my job and I'm about to be homeless due to this mechanic problem on this vehicle.
