  • 2023 GMC SIERRA 3500

August of 2025 [XXX] purchased a certified GMC Sierra 3500. The truck had been traded in May and sat in their service department waiting on a valve body. At this point, we knew this. [XXX] had done research on it, and felt confident in being told the valve body was completely replaced and now working…. Worst mistake we’ve made in a long time. It was not replaced, that was only the beginning of the lies. [XXX] then drove the truck across the country for work, not knowing how much of a hazzard it was. Shortly after arriving there he quickly realized the truck was still having transmission problems. We brushed it off, these things happen. Fast forward when he came home in September/October he took the truck to the Rice Buick GMC service department. Where he was supposed to “wait” on his appointment. Only to call me hours later, they clearly weren’t going to be done that day. We left not knowing that it would be nearly a month until we could drive the truck again. In the midst of that they never offered any help, a rental or anything. When I asked, they offered a tiny small car next door at enterprise. I clearly did not agree, we just spent a lot of money on a heavy duty truck for a reason. It took multiple phone calls to multiple supervisors for them to agree to let him rent a truck. Because you know they might have to spend an extra penny or something (que the eye roll). In that month of having the truck the communication was little to non existent. They never answered the phone, called back, heck most of the time the text messages weren’t even replied to. It once again took me getting a little bit ridiculous for an answer - the truck was “fixed”. When I picked up the truck I spoke to the the service manager, and he of course tried to play me like I was some dumb women who had no idea what I was talking about. He dismissed all of my concerns, acted like having a truck for a month was normal. Brakes have been squealing since 6500 miles. The dealer resurfaced the rotors and cleaned the pads only for the brakes to be squealing again. The dealer has cleaned the brakes and applied "squeak stop" only for the brakes to continue to squeal. The service guide from GM says if brakes are making any noises they need to be "inspected immediately" however I'm being told there's nothing further to be done. How do I know if the squealing (which is truly happening every time I drive the vehicle) is normal or if there's a larger and more concerning issue?

My 2021 GMC Yukon suffered the same engine failure that is the subject of the recall. It has just over 70,000 miles. I'm now told I need a new engine. The dealer confirmed that this is the same issue that has impacted other similar vintage Yukons.

The engine failed and had to be replaced with less than 70,000 miles on it. There has already been a recall associated with these vehicles where a part is either replaced or special oil has to be used. It does not seem that the fix prevents the engine from failing.

Phantom braking when moving forward after a stop. Dealer can’t replicate or diagnose it, therefore won’t repair it under warranty. It’s happened 6 times now and almost caused 3 accidents.

Have not had my truck in over a month while it’s getting repaired had engine failure sure to faulty hydraulic lifters and camshaft failure due to the Dynamic fuel management system purchased warranty for my vehicle but this needs to be looked into it is unfair as a consumer that they are not doing anything about 2020 models and earlier they are just focusing on 2021 and up. They almost had me crash my truck due to power loss

The ABS system in this vehicle and many other similar GM vehicles of this year have abs pumps that malfunction and/or randomly stop working just to begin working later. My vehicle currently has the abs fuse removed because whenever it’s in the abs pump runs continuously even when the vehicle is off. The vehicle I own is in good shape with only 80,000 miles. similar gm vehicles of this age with more miles have even more issues specially with the abs system it’s worse in vehicles that also come equipped with traction control.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact had parked the vehicle in a parking space when the engine seized. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel system control module had failed. The contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

After 5000 miles between oil changes, the engine had burned enough oil to have no oil in the dipstick. This equals at least 3 quarts oil if a 7 quart capacity. The dealership states this truck burns a quart to quart and a half every 2000 miles. This seems like an excess amount of oil consumption.
