Rear Window wire exploded on [XXX] at about [XXX] I heard a loud pop coming from Walmart and got 3 doors from my home, haven’t drove it since it was 7 degrees that night but when I took it in to get a hand car wash today January 17, 2025 I shop immediately told me my rear window was broken but since don’t leave my home often it didn’t make sense. The young man said it could’ve been from defrosting the window when it was cold and causing it to explode and there might be a recall and their is N192265660. Engine failed on highway in a different state, was able to drive home but barely made it. 2 newborns, 2 toddlers, and 2 adults were all in the vehicle at the time the engine started squealing. No warning signs. Dealer dropped oil filter and it was full of metal. Official diagnosis was main crank thrust bearing failure. Rebuilt engine was installed under powertrain warranty (37500 miles). GM did not put us in a comparable rental vehicle, so I had to pay out of pocket expenses outside of their rental allowance for a compact car. Dealer charged for an oil change. Dealer changed the rebuilt engine warranty terms upon pickup from 3yr/100,000miles to 12mo/12,000 miles or the current terms of power train warranty, whichever was longer. GM is well aware of this issue and is keeping it quiet. Rebuilt engines are on back order for months because it’s that common of a failure.

January 17, 2025 On [XXX] at approximately [XXX} I was returning from Walmart. 3 doors from my home I heard and felt a loud pop thinking maybe it could be a hose or something because it was extremely cold 7 degrees but everything seemed fine. Today I decided to have my vehicle washed and waxed since it’s 40 degrees but on my way to the shop it sounded like a window or door was open. When I got there the young man immediately said that my rear window was broken I said it couldn’t be because I really leave my home but I looked closer and it was shattered, he said he had heard of that when it’s cold and using your defroster heating up the wire causes it to explode is probably what happened and there may be a recall on it and there is N192265660. 2019 GMC SIERRA 1500- Carson City, NV
While driving the vehicle, had a sudden “thud” from the engine compartment and immediately started getting error messages on the dashboard. When the codes were pulled, it said a misfire from cylinder number 8. The initial shop it was taken to was unable to diagnose the problem and referred me to the dealership. Upon inspection at the dealership, they stated that the camshaft and all the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle is still at the dealership waiting for this to be done. Upon doing some research, I have found that lifter issues are a very common occurrence in these vehicles. I was reading this morning about the investigation that the NHTSA has started into issues with the L87 engine, which my vehicle has. If the investigation is concentrated on another issue, I would recommend that the lifter issue gets looked into as well. There is no reason that a vehicle with just over 100,000 miles and has had all the oil changes done on time, should suffer a failure like this that costs thousands so dollars to fix. I apologize for not including videos of the issue, I can’t save the ones that the dealership took. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information or if I can be of further assistance. Thank you.

2019 GMC SIERRA 1500- Davison, MI
So August 29, 2023, at 46,000 miles, my engine failed completely with no warning or anything, while driving to work, was at the dealership until October 4th. Then December 10th, 2024 with 83,000 miles my engine failed again while my little brother and I were driving home late that night, on the highway at 70mph , suddenly losing power, causing us to be stranded on the side of the highway at 2am. Has been at the dealership since December 11th, with no eta in sight, and we're at 36 days and counting. A spac case was opened to escalate getting a part. This truck has been a problem and I want to get rid of it as its a safety hazard to myself, family members, and other on the road. GM customer service has also been giving me a runaround as well.

My 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 - Driving home from work on the highway car lost sudden power, All engine notifications appeared on dash and a very loud screeching sound happened. Was able to pull it onto the side of the road barely. Diagnosis from nearby shop was a lifter failure in cylinder 5 causing metal shavings to lock crank up. Total engine replacement. Car has 122,000 miles and every oil change done at 3,000 miles by GMC service technician since new and documented. GMC offered nothing when notified about the issue.

GMC engines are faulty and puts people at risk when they malfunction. The first time the vehicle lost power, It was spitting and sputtering as i was driving with my family in the car. The vehicle Left us sit along side the road of a major highway in freezing temps. The lifters malfunctioned costing 5000 dollars in repairs. Once again started having loss of power and the vehicle shut completely down while driving down the road with my family in it. So no engine means no power steering an etc . Again left us sit along side the road. The main bearing has went in the motor. Now costing us 16,000 in repairs For new engine. Now we are at the cost of 21,000 in repairs. This is a known issue with the v8 engines a yet GM has done nothing to fix or compensate people for their loses. I’m stuck with this vehicle now cause I’m so upside down at this point it’s disgusting. Also sad an auto manufacturer doesn’t NOT stand behind their product as it puts people and their family’s at risk. They NEED TO BE held accountable for this issue as thousands of people have had this issue. I don’t have the other repair bill on me at this time do to the car is in the body shop from a deer accident. But I do have one an can provide it at a later date if needed. Thanks

2024 GMC SIERRA 1500- Austin, TX
Intermittent problems with various systems freezing up or not working: Windshield wipers freezing for several seconds mid-wipe. Nearly caused accident. Heads up display not retaining settings Seat controls (bladders that inflate deflate) intermittently working/infotainment screen freeze (where seat control is displayed). Lane departure warning inconsistently working (beeping) Radio quits playing for several seconds and screen goes dark Blinker stops blinking and then re-starts 6.2L engine slow/rough idle continuously hunting for stable speed (This is the only problem that is NOT intermittent). At times almost dies. A/C unit stuck on "hot" delivering 92 degree air when outside 72 degrees. Temp set at Low. (No A/C just trying to get fresh outside air in). Vehicle was under recall and control modules "reflashed" before purchased (new). Dealer reflashed which did not solve problems. Dealer cannot duplicate (but they only spend a little time looking at the issue). Has been in shop off/on for about 2 weeks attempting to resolve. Issues on occasion still occuring since Mid October 2024 purchase.
