  • 2017 GMC ACADIA
    - Montgomery, NY

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after shifting into park (P), the vehicle failed to shut off because it failed to recognize that the gear shifter was in park (P). The "Shift To Park" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact jiggled the gear shifter button several times until the vehicle responded as intended and turned off. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently but became frequent. A dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle, and a diagnostic estimate was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Interior Electrical System / Center Console Wireless Charging Pad The plastic housing surrounding the factory wireless phone charging pad in the center console has visibly melted and deformed. The damage is localized to the area directly above/around the induction charging coil, with no similar heat damage to adjacent console plastics, indicating the wireless charging module itself is the heat source. I stopped using this charging location upon noticing the deformation. This appears to be a component overheating defect that poses a potential fire risk if left in continued use. I am not aware of an existing recall or technical service bulletin covering physical melting of this component (existing GM bulletins address intermittent charging function only, not heat damage to plastic). Requesting this be documented and investigated.

  • 2017 GMC ACADIA
    - Saint Peters, MO

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked on an incline with the engine turned off, the contact's toddler was able to shift into drive(D), and the vehicle rolled backwards, hit a light pole and a basketball stand, causing damage to the front driver-side door. No police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The contact was unable to shift back into park(P) and was forced to start the vehicle in neutral(N). The contact was then unable to shut off the vehicle as the gear shifter was no longer in park(P). Upon investigation, the contact learned that it was necessary to manually flip a switch underneath the gear console for the vehicle to register that it was in park(P). The contact initially took the vehicle to the independent mechanic but was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact submitted a claim with pictures and videos of the failure. The contact was then instructed to take the vehicle to a dealer for an inspection. The contact was later informed by the claim manager that the claim would be denied, and no further assistance was offered. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 99,968.

Oct 2025 I took my truck into my local GMC dealer for 6.2 recall. I was told it passed the testing. 6/12/26 driving about 70mph on highway and lost all acceleration. Warning stating engine oil hot,/ pull over and idle engine. Already using 0w40 oil for approx 8momnths. Oil changed approx 3 wks before this incident. I was able to pull to the shoulder w/in 1/4 mile. While the truck was still moving about 3 mph it went into park and shut off. The vehicle would not turn back on. Oil level was full. For about $300 I was able to have the truck towed to a local dealer (about 2hrs from my home) and have my trailer towed off the highway. 6/15/26 I was notified by a local dealer that the engine was seized and that this was probably the recall issue. I contacted my local dealer who had my truck towed to their location. On 6/19/26 I was told by local dealer rep that they had ordered an engine for my truck and that I was third in line. On 6/26/26 I was informed by the dealer that he engine is on an indefinite backorder nationwide. On 6/30/26 I received a call from GM giving me a case number and getting contact info for my local dealer. I was advised that someone would contact me within 48 business hours. 7/3/26 I was contacted by my case advisor from GM. Still no idea when replacement engines might be available. I inquired about a buyback since I need a truck for work/personal life. I advised her that I had already cancelled one vacation (towing an RV...my loaner Buick Encore won't work) and would probably have to cancel another. I tried to explain that farming doesn't work well with the loaner either. I was told that another advisor would look into a buyback situation. On 7/8/26 I received a call from GM advising that my engine had shipped on 7/6/26 and to expect a call the following week with an update on completion.

1 year after having the grill deflector piece being replaced on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X, under the recall. The new grill deflector became detached and flew off my vehicle. Clearly, the recall fix by GMC did not work.

I purchased vehicle used 2 years ago last year. I noticed the air conditioner was not cooling. I summed it up too, and extremely hot summer. This summer I did the same thing.I took it in immediately. Catastrophic, I think I bought it like this. It fell apart, the air conditioning compressor fell apart. There is like shrapnel through everything, and they have to go through and clean everything out. It's gonna cost me over two grand. But it only be in 40000 miles on it. I understand it's a twenty nineteen, but owner said at forty thousand miles. This should never happen.
