GMC Complaints

My GMC which is well cared for and only has 121,000 miles has a rusted through frame (mid-vehicle, left side) which has made the truck unsafe to drive. The steel used is inferior, my neighbor across the street also has this truck, 2 years newer, and is doing the same thing. As I have researched this issue I have found out that this is a critical failure of the GMC Sierra for several model years due to a failure to protect the steel used in northern states which compromises structural integrity. When Toyota had this issue, they stepped up and replaced the frames. General Motors, please tell me what you intend to do with this. It is a 5.3 Litre with 121,000 miles on it, in other words, still a baby for such a fine engine. This is not right. I am seriously discouraged. For my family, this is devastating. 5 September went to start my car and the car started before i put it in drive it stalled and i could not restart the car kept turning over and will not run. plug in a diagnostics machine and found fault code P023F Fuel pump control module. this was the same fault I had two years ago june 2022. replaced the unit but part number has changed "13543075 has changed to a new number of 13554820" so GMC is aware there is a problem with the old part. included an image of original repair.

The steel bar could be felt through the lower lumbar area. Seat back also moved out of position while driving and I was told the bar inside the back came out of place.

while backing out of my driveway the auto braking went off 3 times and there is nothing behind me. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they just put all emergency braking systems on alert. my sales person took a gmc acadia up north and the same thing happened to her.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact turned off the vehicle and removed the key and the vehicle was shaking and shuddering until the vehicle independently turned off. The contact stated that there was an oil leak and oil was being added every four days. The contact stated that coolant was also frequently added. The contact stated that the vehicle was taking to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the engine power reduced message was displayed, and the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The vehicle was towed to the residence and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

One hour into a trip from Reno to Bay Area at 18k miles on my car the vehicle lost power while driving on the highway. It went into neutral and display said to hit start which yielded a warning that ability to shift was no optimal. Preceding the shut down I lost acceleration power. I was able to exit highway and coast off to the side of an exit road where it came to a stop and shifted to park in the middle of the road. Had it been one mile up the highway I would have hit another incline and the car would have stopped on a major two lane interstate. Ultimately towed back to dealer in Reno where I was informed my engine seized and needed to be replaced.

The car will not shift into park from drive. When trying to park I have to shift from drive to park several times before it will finally go into park. It is getting worse.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle jerked and shut off. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The contact stated that on several occasions, while the vehicle was jerking at a complete stop, the contact shifted to park(P) to prevent the vehicle from stalling. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump was leaking fuel into the oil gasket. The mechanic replaced the mass air flow sensor, the oil gasket, the fuel pump, the catalytic converter, and the starter; however, the failure recurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an unknown related recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

Adaptive Cruise Control has applied brakes multiple times while cruise has been sent at speeds ranging from 55-75 MPH. Vehicle aggressively slowed down 10-20 MPH then picked up speed. No vehicles in sight ahead of vehicle, aggressively applied braking without warning. Aggressive braking could cause traffic behind vehicle to crash into me while driving at high speeds. Multiple other reports of this happening to other 2023-2024 GMC Canyon owners based on comments on Facebook and Reddit with acknowledgement from the manufacturer that this is a know issue they currently are trying to resolve. Issue not isolated to this vehicle. Vehicle has not been inspected by Manufacturer or problem been reproduced dealership. Vehicle goes in for service next week, meanwhile cruise is not being used as it is a safety hazard. No collision warning or any other warnings experienced with this issue. Issue first happened on day 1 of vehicle ownership and has happened 2-3 other times with one instance of it braking and accelerating 3 times over a 2-3 mile stretch of highway with cruise set at 75MPH with vehicle slowing down to around 55MPH before resuming set speed.

i HAVE A SERVICE SUSPENSION LIGHT THAT CONTINUES TO POP UP ON DASHBOARD THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I have previously had the passenger side brake light stop working. In order to repair this you have to order a whole new taillight. My vehicle was approximatly 6 years old when this started happening. First incident (2022 with approximately 65000 miles) Yesterday, I was pulled over by a policeman and both of my brake lights are not working. We found a way to sauder (I know this is incorrect spelling) the broken metal piece back together in the taillight; however, this is not the correct way to fix the underlying problem and clearly it is only a temporary fix because the passenger side broke again in a new spot.
