I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lateral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable highway sway. The tailer's loaded tongue weight (1,223 to 1,529 lbs based on a 10,195 lb GVWR) physically overloads the truck's factory stamped 1,22o lb hitch receiver capacity. Immediately upon exiting the lot on Friday night, may 29, the rig experienced violent highway sway. I notified the sales associate that night, but received no safety instructions. For public safety, I returned the hazardous rig to the lot on Saturday morning, May 30. Instead of resolving the safety hazard, dealership personnel refused to let me speak to the general manager and executed two unauthorized alternations to mask the defects: 1. A technician intentionally over inflated my trucks tires to 57 PSI on the asphalt lot between the propane filling area and the store building. On site personnel explicitly admitted this was done to "stiffen the sidewalls because the trailer was rocking". 2. The dealer installed a Curt 10,000 lb weight distribution hitch (1,000 lb max tongue weight), which is completely overloaded by this trailer rating by up to 500 lbs. Staff took the rig behind a closed gate into Service Bay 2 to make undisclosed tension alterations to force the truck to look level, withholding all mechanical disclosure forms or explanations of services rendered. Staff then abandoned my truck in the drop off lot with the keys inside and ignored us for hours. The dealers blind alterations caused even more violent sway causing emergency grounding.

Slide out on RV repeatedly failed to fully extend and retract. Was told by RV repair shop that structural failure was the cause. The problem was discovered and confirmed by a dealer service center. As of 5-27-2026, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The structural failure could have caused the slide out to unexpectedly extend while in transit. The structural failure could also cause a catastrophic event while in transit. There were no noticeable symptoms or warning signs of this condition except for the multiple slide out problems.

Regarding 2021 Grand Design Momentum 376THS: Compartment doors popping open during transport; Grand Design Customer Satisfaction Campaign TSB-24-001 dated 11/1/2025 regarding frame flex and wall securement. Returned to dealer on 12/1/2025 for inspection. Dealer found the following: All doors except p/s compartment door warped or bowed; P/S cracking in sidewall paneling on slides Front cap mollding broken screws Deformation or cracks at expansion joint located under upper deck slide out Gapping between exterior wall and floor Screw cover separation around front bulkhead Loose or shifted wall panel trim; trim pulled away from floor Crinkling wallpaper and cabinet paneling loos in upper cabinets

Scheduled appointment with dealer for the Grand Design Frame Flex recall today, 22 May 2026. Approximately 4 hours after dropping the trailer off the dealer called and said that the technician found significant frame flex and that the unit was unsafe to be towed. No other information was provided. I did ask for the measurements that the TSB 24-001 requires to be filled out ans submitted to Grand Design. The lady that called was completely unaware of what I was asking for.

Frame weld cracks. Wall support framing cracks. Damaged cargo doors from flexing frame. Slideout damage from frame support break which may or may not keep it locked in placed during travel. Has been returned to manufacturer twice. 2024, 2025. Same issues again in 2026.

On the driver side of the 2018 Momentum Toy Hauler cracked in two locations above the center leaf spring holder. This issue occurred on May 1, 2025. While pulling out of a shop after having the leaf spring holders replaced the axle traveled through a small depression on the ground causing the frame to flex and make a loud enough sound to be heard in the truck pulling the camper. While investigating the situation it was discovered that the frame cracked at the weld points of the gusset bracket that was attached to the frame. The owner of Hawkeye Diesel Repair and two mechanics were on-site during the issue. [XXX] , the mechanics, and the owner of the RV inspected the frame as soon as the sound happened. It was discovered that the new leaf spring holders were firmly connected to the frame but the frame had cracked. The RV has been parked at in their parking lot since. The contact owns a 2022 Grand Design Recreational Trailer. The contact stated that while the trailer was parked, an inspection of the trailer revealed that the front passenger-side door was inoperable and failed to properly open and close. The contact also noticed sawdust present in the bedroom area of the trailer. Additionally, the generator compartment was inoperable and failed to lock properly. The contact received a recall notification from the manufacturer related to the trailer. The trailer was taken to the dealer; however, the trailer was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the trailer needed to be inspected, and photographs of the failure were sent to a specialist for further evaluation. The contact later stated that the dealer advised that the inspection had been canceled after the photographs were submitted. The trailer was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

The contact owns a 2023 Grand Design 5th Wheel. The contact stated that the propane gas pigtail was on the floor and created an electrical spark and popping noise that traveled up to other cords. The contact stated that the pigtail cord was improperly fitted and should not have been on the floor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Frame flex from broken welds on the pin box to the frame. It’s a very wide know thing across many GD models that used this same frame / pin box. I have pictures showing the angle of the pin box once weights applied, it’s a safety issue and there’s tons of people online having the same issue.

I am submitting a new safety complaint regarding my 2021 Grand Design Solitude 380FL, VIN [XXX] . On my first trip out this year (4/29/2026), while towing approximately 20 miles to a nearby campsite, the off-door-side cargo compartment door again opened during transit. As a direct result, a bucket containing my water hose, regulator, 90 degree fitting, etc were ejected from the compartment and onto the roadway at highway speed. This is a significant escalation of the safety issue previously reported. This is no longer limited to a door opening condition—this event resulted in unsecured cargo being discharged into a public roadway, creating a hazard to other motorists. This failure occurred despite extensive prior repair efforts, including: Four separate Service Response Team (SRT) visits Approximately 10 weeks at the Grand Design factory for structural and frame-related repairs Multiple inspections and repair attempts involving both Grand Design RV and Lippert Components The cargo door opening condition has persisted throughout this entire repair history and has not been resolved. This repeated failure following extensive repair attempts demonstrates that the manufacturer’s inspection and repair procedures have not corrected the defect. The condition remains present and continues to pose a clear safety risk to other motorists on public roadways. This event further supports that: The defect is ongoing and unresolved Prior repairs were ineffective The condition presents a real hazard to public roadways I respectfully request that this incident be included in the investigation record and considered as evidence of an unresolved safety defect with the potential to cause roadway incidents or crashes.
