2024 HYUNDAI PALISADE Complaints

With less than 2,000-miles on the vehicle, the second-row driver's side seatbelt came unfastened from the lower anchor point of the vehicle. There was no indication that this would be an issue until a passenger sat in the seat and tried to buckle up, only to find the seat belt was hanging loose. Fortunately there was no injury associated to this failure but it is concerning as a critical safety device failed due to what can only be imagined as careless oversight in assembly.

In the last two weeks my car has experienced issues with braking a total of 5 times. The issue seems to happen when there may be an uneven road, pothole, or gravel. On 3 of the 5 occurrences, I was at a 4-way intersection with a car full of children. I was going no more than 10-15 mph at most because its a residential street and had ample time to stop. Upon pressing the brakes, my car slowed down a bit but then the brakes failed and I rolled through the interesection, having to blare my horn to warn others I could not stop. This could have been a deadly event had I needed to stop at a major intersection or to avoid a collision. I will be contacting the dealership today, however I have noticed there are multiple complaints regarding this issue and many lawyers discussing building a class action lawsuit as Hyundai fails to address the issues.

I was driving on a bit uneven surface, a temporary bridge, at low speed ~25mph. I pressed brakes to stop but the car started shaking and didnt stop as the brakes completely froze. I could have rammed into the car in front. I quickly released the brakes and pressed again with full force in fraction of a second and it somehow worked this time. It was a very scary experience with me and my family in car. This bridge was on a river and could have had catastrophic results for me any my family. This is a very serious safety issue. I see a lot of complaints from Palisade owners facing this issue online.

Multiple times approaching a crosswalk and stop sign at my kid’s school going about 15 mph and started to apply the brakes as we went over some slightly uneven ground The car lurched forward repeatedly as the brakes were applied, bouncing forward in spurts rather while I applied the brakes with great force, the car took twice as long to stop than it should have. I went well past the crosswalk and stop sign despite beginning to brake with plenty of time to stop. This is so far from how an ABS system is supposed to work and something that is potentially dangerous.

The ABS starting shaking and skipping the car while braking when I wasn’t even in a situation where ABS needed to be used. It is available for inspection. When this happened it caused braking to be worse and less responsive than what would have happened with normal braking. The car is currently at the dealership being looked over. As this is unsafe when I have a baby in the car. No warning lights or anything. Which is also concerning since the ABS light should be triggered when the ABS system is in use.

When the brakes are applied on uneven road at slow speeds, the brake pulse violently but does not stop. This creates a very dangerous situation. This happened several times and when my daughter was driving the car, came within an inch of rear ending someone. I had a 2021 Palisades Calligraphy which we drove on the same roads and this was never an issue.

Engine fire caused by AC compressor. On 09/28/24, at 1700 miles and in the parking lot of a restaurant, smoke suddenly began filling the cabin and when I looked out the window the entire car's front was engulfed in a gray smoke. The overpowering smell was of burning wire insulation, plastic, and rubber. I immediately shut the car off, popped the hood, and was ready to run into the restaurant for a fire extinguisher when I noticed the large cloud of smoke was dissipating, but the heat was still incredibly extreme and a good amount of smoke was still pouring from the engine. My sister-in-law entered the car to retrieve her purse, and her eyes instantly started watering and she had a headache for several days. She is still complaining of her chest burning. After calling roadside, the AAA driver stated the car really smelled badly burned, and hauled the car off to the dealer of purchase. The fire was on 09/28/24 (a Saturday), and on Monday, 09/30/24, I submitted what took place to Hyundai. This is when the fraud started and Hyundai, with the help of the dealer, have purposely done everything possible to conceal the fire. I have full details of this fraud, and it's simply shocking. I am awaiting information regarding the restaurant's video recordings.

We were driving on a highway between two towns with no other cars on either side of the highway and our sunroof exploded. We pulled to the side of the road thinking there was a gunshot or a tire exploded to discover the shattered sunroof. Thankfully we had the slide closed and it contained the glass pieces. The sunroof class was pointed upward. No rocks were bouncing around and nothing hit our windshield. The dealership warranty manager says it was a road hazard but there was no hazard to be had around us.

I bought a 24 Palisade Ltd Few month into ownership, I was approaching a stop light going 10 mph and started to apply the brakes as I passed over some slightly bumpy ground. While braking at a stop, and encountering a pothole (has occurred even without a pothole on straight surfaces), it feels like the is ABS kicking in to avoid wheel lockup, and apparent slowing which rapidly mimics activities that could cause hard braking. Similar to when the car is on ice/snow and the car pulses to stop. Unsafe, as the vehicle does not top when intended and forces the vehicle to take longer to stop with the potential to involuntarily enter an intersection. I have had this occur multiple times. I am fearful that I will potentially have an accident with my grandchildren in the car. Dealership is aware of multiple issues, but cannot duplicate and thus will not resolve.
