2017 HYUNDAI SONATA PLUG-IN HYBRID- APO AE, NY
While driving at a high rate of speed propulsion to the vehicle suddenly and without warning ceased, the electric and internal combustion engine were non-responsive (ICE stopped; hybrid motor didn't provide propulsion), the warning light said "Check Hybrid System. Turn off engine" I was put at risk because I was traveling at highway speed and was given no warning before the vehicle shut down. This has occurred nine times, I've reported all to Hyundai, they have had the car in the shop three times, the issue is not fixed. No, despite ODB2 error codes, the car has not shut down while a dealership is driving it. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected multiple times by Hyundai. Yes, always "Check Hybrid System. Turn off engine", in almost all cases the check engine light comes on after that, and in some cases additional lights such as "auto hold". This first occurred in Dec 2023, I was told the car was fixed (it wasn't) and happened again in October 2024. I haven't been able to drive my car since then.

I was driving on highway when all of sudden my vehicle began to shake hard and lose power, every time I stepped on the accelerator the check engine light came on, this happened on [XXX] in Los Baños, CA. My safety was at risk as all other traffic was going past me including semi trucks as I was trying to find a safe place to pull over out of harms way, as I was doing this the car shut off completely before I could even pull over. I had to get the vehicle towed to my local dealership where they had it for almost 3 weeks now, only diagnostic I’ve had back was that it has 2 misfires, one in cylinder 2 and the other in cylinder 4, and that it has no compression in cylinder 2. They said it isn’t covered under warranty which I believe should be looked into as I could of been serious hurt or lost my life due to this issues. I’ve had the vehicle serviced up to date since I’ve owed it and also noticed high oil consumption, not sure if this led to engine failure? The final diagnosis from Hyandai dealer is that engine is no good anymore and need replacement but it’s not covered under warranty. My vehicle was purchased in 2018 and currently has 128,000 miles. I took it to the dealership because it was puttering and not holding pil. The dealership did some work on the vehicle. Furthermore, after that trip to the dealership, my car kept burning oil even after recent oil changes that I found myself constantly adding oil. I took it to another licensed mechanic who informed me after a tune up that my car is consistently burning oil. This was after I had a recent oil change. The engine is defective, hyundai knows they are defective and refuse to do anything about it.

Unknown... I recently got an oil change and not even a week later my oil light came on. There's no leaks, I've been to midas several times and no leak was found. Was told to check to see if it had any recalls, my vin doesn't produce a recall but I know there's something wrong with my car.

When turning the steering wheel to the left, the steering wheel jerks and pulls to the left, gets stuck some and the jerk back into place when coming out a left turn or curve to balance steering wheel position. Searched for recall and took to Hyundai but they could not find anything. They say maybe purchase tires, rotate your tires and/or wheel alignment. I have done it all. They said they heard others say that but don't see a recall or know what would cause it. Went on Reddit, and others are having the same problem. Therefore, there is a problem this jerking issue. Car has been burning oil since September of 2024. It’s burning 2 quarts of oil every 500 miles. The oil is burning out spark plugs and coils every 3 months. These engines need to be recall and Hyundai needs to be held accountable.

Every few months my car’s engine struggles. It doesn’t start, or I have to try a few times. For whatever reason I need to get an oil change a lot more frequently than normal and I’ve been to the shop before and the shop tells me that my engine is recalled but it doesn’t say that on the website when I put my vin number in. Whenever the engine stops working again sometimes the AC doesn’t work and it almost put my dog’s life at risk once.
