2019 JEEP CHEROKEE- Fort Smith, AR
The Parking Assist, parking, ABS warning continues. There is a recall on the year model but not my VIN. I have not even been able to afford the sales tax (over $1000 USD) and dealer refuses to assist with the cost of diagnostic or malfunction repair.

My vehicle has has these issues since I bought them but were unaware of how to report them. I also got a recall letter about my PTU failure and Feldman Jeep in Livonia falsely reported the recall completed and it wasn’t. My car is noisy and vibrational when driving higher speeds, service 4wd messages and noise when I turn the automatic brakes off.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds on several occasions, the message "Service 4WD" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power transfer unit and the shift actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts being on backorder. The vehicle was taken to the residence, and the contact’s grandson disassembled the transmission and concluded that the shift actuator did not need to be replaced, but the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving approximately 15 MPH, there was a thumping sound coming from under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the residence and parked. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,885.

For over a year, my SVC 4Wdrive light continues to be on. I received a PTU recall notice a year ago with a recall with no fix at the time. I had the dealership look at the issue with he service light always turning on at random times. They informed it was related to the recall and the vehicle was still okay to drive. When I use 4W drive the SVC light comes in on addition to randomly coming on at all seasons of the year when I am driving. I recently received my recall fix notice and took the vehicle back to the dealership (3/4/26). After hooking it up, it was determined that my code was "close", but not an exact match. The PTU/SVC indicator light would still need to be taken care of, but now it would be at a cost to me. Please explain how this is acceptable when the issue still needs to be fixed but does not qualify under the Recall?

I took my vehicle to a dealership in response to the recent recall for the PTU unit. They simply "updated software" and claim the error code indicating ptu issues was not present and therefore are not required to replace the part. My vehicle has the textbook "symptoms" as directly outlined on the first recall notice (before a remedy was available) and the second notice; noise, service 4wd notification, and jolting while driving. I explained my car is still making a noise and that I do not understand how software can fix a mechanical issue. I then contacted FCA, they said they would escalate my concern and would get a response but I never heard back. Ive read multiple reports that Jeep always uses "software updates" as their fix, and that software updates can actually mask mechanical issues, which seems kind of sleazy that they will not replace the recalled part especially when relative issues are happening and if it does fail entirely while driving, it could be very dangerous. It was my understanding that manufacturers are required to replace anything recalled, regardless of whether its faulted. Im scared to drive my car, this feels like Jeep is being negligent.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 4 MPH into a parking lot, the “Service 4WD” light illuminated and turned on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and a code for the PTU was retrieved. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The “Service 4WD” light was illuminated. Additionally, while driving, accelerating, or depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal whining sound coming from the vehicle. 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE- N Scituate, RI
On March 1, 2026, while traveling south on Colonel Rodman Highway, I heard a sudden explosive noise and the Jeep bucked and jerked violently, nearly causing an accident. We were able to reach the breakdown lane, but the situation created a highly hazardous driving condition. My research identified a significant PTU recall and TSB 9004402, which acknowledges complexities and compatibility issues between 20-plate and 24-plate RDM designs for this model year. This confirms the component is not a standard wear-and-tear part, but a specialized system with known engineering concerns. I brought the vehicle to Tasca Jeep and was advised that the rear differential failed and the PTU blew apart, with an estimated repair cost of $9,637. It is unacceptable for owners to bear the cost of what appears to be a known safety-related defect. This is not an inconvenience — it is a serious safety issue. I am requesting a full investigation and written clarification as to why no recall or broader corrective action has been issued. There were no lights or warnings on the dash, no indication this could/would happen. I look forward to your prompt response.
