2019 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to use the 4WD feature, the message “Service 4WD” was displayed, with an audible chime. The failure caused the vehicle to slide while driving in the snow. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failure. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part not being approved or provided. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,773.

There is a recall for the PTU MOTOR in jeep cherokee 2019 our car is currently not included in it but recall but that exact part is needing to be replaced in our jeep. Could our jeep be included in that recall.

Recall on my 2019 Jeep for Two-Speed PTU failure has not been remedied yet it has been a year now. Would like to know when this can be fixed before I have other issues.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. Most recently, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Service 4WD" was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a power transfer unit (PTU) failure. The contact was informed that the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The dealer performed a transmission flush, which the contact stated could cause additional issues with the current recall that had not been repaired due to parts not being available. The contact reported an issue with the Warranty Group because the Warranty Group would not cover additional failures under warranty. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift properly while driving. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.

I have been having an intermittent 4WD SERVICE light come on, then after a while it stayed on. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic who diagnosed the issue as a failing Power Transfer Unit (PTU). He suggested I bring to the dealership for diagnosis as he saw recalls and service bulletins related to this issue, indeed I found "NHTSA Campaign 25V011000 (Reported April 2025): Involves the power transfer unit (PTU), which may damage and cause loss of drive power or park function. Consequence: Increased crash or injury risk from stall or rollaway. Remedy: Software updates and PTU replacement if needed (free); final remedy expected January 2026. Contact FCA at 1-800-853-1403 (recall #01C)" Even tho this issue is the same as reported in the recall, for some reason my VIN is not included in the recall. The car has been at the dealership awaiting repair since Monday, Jan 12 and I am told the part is on backorder and will not be available until Feb 16. So my car is out of commission for about 5-6 weeks due to this faulty part that is prevelant in these vehicles. I argued for some goodwill assistance and they did give me some relief, but I believe this should be included in the recall. Can you assist me with getting my vehicle included in the recall? The issue was first diagnosed by my mechanic in Nov 2024 at 53,998 miles then again in Jan 2026 at 64,896 miles. The dealer has had the car since Jan 12, 2026.

The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced power and jerked significantly. The contact was able to drive to the nearby residence. The AWD warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, to be diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the PTU had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer informed the contact there would be reimbursement for any vehicle rental expenses; however, the contact was unable to afford a rental, and the manufacturer had become unreachable. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

Failing PTU (power train unit) causing power loss and high risk of breakdown or crash

Since December 2025 we have had a "Service 4WD" light on our dash. Recall 01C was announced on 01/26/25. I have contacted Jeep dealers and Chrysler customer service with help/resolution to this. That all tell me to wait for parts. It's been a year. When will this be addressed???

Well the engine definitely failed to provide power for me to drive my vehicle. And as I am doing more and more research on what the PTU does, which is what there is a recall on. It appears the PTU not working correctly on my vehicle affected the engine, and the ability for car to properly utilize oil, thus affecting the operation of the cylinders 1 and 4 on my vehicle. I am being told I need a new engine however, I believe the PTU problem directly affected my engine because everything that happens with the failure of the PTU is similar things that happen with the failure of my engine, thus the two really are related. And if the PTU "talks to" the engine for proper consumption and usage of oil then, my current engine replacement needs to be covered under the recall of the PTU and any other possible engine problems with other Jeep Cherokee engine recalls. I would like someone to contact me and have a discussion with me and/or an attorney as I am considering now hiring one because of the safety risk of continued problems especially putting in another engine and having the PTU affect the engine again. Also mechanics are saying there is no way that this engine failed unless there was something else wrong upon installation of the engine or something else affected the operation of the engine, as in the PTU.
