2019 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact became aware of an abnormal thumping sound coming from the vehicle. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle, and there was excessive heat coming from the wheels. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with PTU failure. The contact was informed that the PTU needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the 4x4 warning light illuminated, and the vehicle unexpectedly slowed down. The contact stated that the vehicle lost traction control. Additionally, the contact heard a screeching sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to perform the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,495.

I was getting off the highway and my car stopped on me. I put my emergency lights on. I put the car on park and tried turning it on. The brake was hard to push down. I gave it a few minutes to rest and I tried 2 more times. The second time it turned on but imediately turned back off. I let it rest a minute or so and it finally turned on. I was scared for my life because there all on coming traffic coming off the interstate. I did call the police for help but as soon as I got it started I called back for them not to come. I also got a warning saying engine warming. 6:30 am 10-30-25

The vehicle is a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with approximately 70,000 miles on it. Check 4WD light came on. Took it to a Jeep dealer who said that it is a problem with the rear differential and would cost $6,000 to repair. Vehicle's VIN is not included in the PTU recall which has affected other 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokees.

While im driving my car completley shuts down with no notice or anything. I have to restart the whole vehicle for it to start running again. This happened to me while i was on the high way slowing down and on the street slowing down to turn. I almost got into 2 car accidents this morning because of this. Not sure whats going on but my dashboard completely goes blank and flashes when this happened. This occured on 10/29/2025 at 6;45-6;50 am.

Infotainment not functioning and draining battery. Back up camera not operational

The service 4-wheel drive light warning light came on. It is a PTU issue that Jeep has recalled 63K vehicles on in February. My jeep has been sitting in the shop since 9/8/2025 with no anticipated date of receiving a part. It is unsafe to drive the vehicle; therefore, I have been without a vehicle for almost 2 months. Jeep is aware of the issue and is doing nothing to correct the issue.

The 4WD service light keeps coming on and off in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus. The obd2 code c1494-92 displays. This is directly related to a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) issue. There was a recall issued in January of 2025 (recall 01C). However, I am being told that my VIN is not covered under this recall. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep) and there were not able to give me a reason why the 01C recall does not cover my vehicle. The NHTSA referred me to the manufacturer. But I keep getting the runaround and nobody is providing me a clear answer on this issue.

The contact restarted the vehicle before the vehicle was reset and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the electrical system was rebooted because of a loosened wire inside the vehicle. Despite the reboot, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was diagnosed with a defective alternator. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the alternator was replaced. Approximately a month after the repair, the failure returned, and the power steering assist, battery, 4WD, and other unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,738
