2014 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the front passenger’s side air bags deployed without warning, causing major damages to the front passenger’s side door. There was no injury sustained. The contact pulled over and became aware that the front passenger’s side air bags and side door air bags had deployed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a collision center where the vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 61,000. The VIN was not available.

While coming to stop at a red light, service parking brake message along with audible ding appeared on the message center. The light on the parking break switch was flashing. Brake light was illuminated along with parking brake light. I arrived at my destination shortly after and attempted to engage the parking brake. Nothing happened. I moved up a few spaces in line at a coffee shop and came to a stop. The parking brake engaged and I was unable to move the vehicle. I turned the car off, put my seatbelt on, put the car in drive and slowly moved forward. The parking break disengaged and I was able to get home. At home I followed the procedure to reset the parking brake. The brake reset along with all lights,brake and parking brake light, and was ok until the next day. Vehicle was parked overnight. Next day tried moving car but Parking brake engaged and I was unable to disengage. Service parking brake message illuminated as well as brake and parking brake light. I read online about water entering the control module and attempted to locate and remove it. See attached photo. The module and wiring harness had a small amount of water inside as well as signs of the water having been there a while.

Car has broken down multiple times. Most recent issue: 1car stalled while trying to make a left turn on highway, would not drive forward -dashboard sign said to put car in park -when trying to put it in drive it went into neutral and rolled back -car would not turn off, kept running when we tried to turn it on and off -“battery voltage low”warning signal came on -engine warning signal came on -got it to drive again after a few minutes and parked the car -tried driving it home, same thing happened all over again when were at a light after about 5 minutes -went to parking lot, hood of car was burning hot

My 2014 Jeep Cherokee is impacted by the 49A Safety Recall for Power Liftgate Module, for which there is no remedy. I've been advised by Jeep's recall not to park inside, or park near a structure, or park near other vehicles as the vehicle can catch on fire, whether driving it or not. These requirements make my vehicle useless. I have called Jeep and was told I also cannot trade it in during a recall. I asked about compensation, or their providing transportation until a remedy is available, and was told that's not possible. This Jeep is obviously not safe and Jeep is not providing any solutions.

I have repeatedly been driving down the road then the jeep will instantly kick it out of gear while driving completely loses power so I have to pull over so I don’t get ran over and today. My electronic parking brake went out a second time in under a year because of the corrosion, every time it is kicked my transmission out of gear was a narrow escape from a wreck I reported this before but you don’t seem to care so I will be buying a cheap video recorder system and the first time I catch it on video. I will be filing a lawsuit against Jeep and your company for not even looking into it which I referred you to do

Water ingress into electronic parking brake module caused brake to lock and render vehicle immobile. Also caused battery drain and electrical issues due to shorting out.

The emergency park brake engages by itself when the vehicle starts and it does not want to disengage. The system is engaging on it's own.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the 4-WD inoperable warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a power transfer unit failure with metal shavings inside the differential fluid; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 114,303.

I parked my vehicle in my driveway without turning on the e-parking brake (it is in manual mode). In the morning when I got into the vehicle and put the car into reverse the e-park brake engaged and would not disengage. This was followed by a “service parking brake” message on the dash. I had to have the car towed to a mechanic who found water in the EPB module which was causing the issue. The water seemed to be coming in from some seams in the roof and running directly onto the module. The replacement of the module was very expensive and the car was inoperable for over 1 week.

Check engine light came on, so I took it to my mechanic. Cylinder 1 is bad. The vehicle has 75000 miles and the engine needs to be replaced or at minimum cylinder one has to be repaired. Very expensive repair. I have done regular maintenance and still have an engine problem. I thought the engine would be good for at least 300000.
