2019 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

The rear differential is suffering from corrosion, which caused a slight leak. If it fails, the car will suddenly cease operation, which could result in a collision. The part was inspected by the dealer, and said it could take up to 3 months to get a replacement. As of yet, no warning lights are active.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine sputtered. While driving and attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle occasionally lost automotive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the battery, the front and rear brake pads and rotors, the water pump, and the harmonic balancer were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, two days later, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle while accelerating. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed a second time, and the contact was informed that the PTU was faulty and needed to be replaced, and an alignment was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also became aware of a coolant leak underneath the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

I have already received the official recall notice, but I have been told by both my local mechanic and FCA representatives that there is still no remedy available. In the meantime, my vehicle is exhibiting exactly the defect described in the recall and is now unsafe to drive. Here is my experience: In early 2024, while running errands, I stopped at a red light before making a left turn. When the light turned green, the car would not move forward. I had to turn on my blinkers while other drivers were honking. I panicked, tried turning the car off and on, and eventually it moved again. This same issue has happened four other times since then. Most recently, on 8/22/25 the car left me stranded in a grocery store parking lot. It was full of groceries, making multiple alert sounds, and would not start. My cousin had to leave what he was doing to try to jump it; when that didn’t work my brother and nephew went to buy a new battery. When they returned, the car started on its own and we returned the battery. We took the vehicle to our local autozone to run tests in which it passed all. Since that day, every time I turn the car on it stalls momentarily before starting. I have also called certified Jeep dealers in my area who have stated the parts are unavailable and there is no ETA on their availability.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power and was unable to accelerate as intended. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and shifted the vehicle into park; however, upon releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle began to roll away. Furthermore, after continued troubleshooting, the contact observed that the vehicle failed to move when shifted into drive(D) or reverse(R) but could roll away when shifted into park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the Power Transfer Unit (PTU); and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); the VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was later offered per diem reimbursement for expenses incurred for renting a vehicle. The failure mileage was 114,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change, the contact was informed that the oil level was significantly low. The dealer performed the oil change and initiated an oil consumption test. The dealer advised the contact to return after 1,500-1,700 miles. The contact stated that upon returning to the dealer after 1,500 miles, the dealer inspected the oil level and informed the contact that the vehicle had failed the oil consumption test. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: TSB 09-013-22. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,962.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power, and the traction control warning light illuminated. Additionally, the message "4WD Unavailable" was displayed, and the 4WD became inoperable, causing the rear wheels to spin out of control. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the PTU needed to be replaced, but the dealer refused to repair the vehicle because parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

My service four-wheel-drive light came on when I had the code read. It was obstructed and or blocked the dealership informed me I needed to have a new transfer case and I see all the existing recalls on my exact vehicle and they’re having the same problems and the part that I need for my car is backordered for a long time. I paid for a new transfer case with no time frame as to when they are getting them in

Vehicle is hard to turn since it is locked in to all wheel drive . I had Northtown Jeep ( dealership) look at it and they knew what it was just after one quick ride around the building. The car has 28543 miles on it and is out of warranty. They told me that the PTU was faulty and that also caused damage to the rear differential. This vehicle from day one sounded and felt a bit (odd) but I just figured that this was normal but it wasn't until this year when leaving the driveway that it got to the point that we could not even drive the car.The dealership said it would cost roughly 6800.00 to repair both the ptu and the differential, which I can not afford.
