2014 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

Transmission problems, engine light comes on and it says service transmission in the dashboard it is okay to be inspected upon request. I’ve been to 4 different garages trying to get the problem fixed and have spend over $5,000 in less than a year. And the problem still occurs. Car delays drastically when changing gears. When driving, the vehicle will lose acceleration and the gas pedal will not work and the vehicle will not accelerate at all. The drive gear and the reverse gear will get confused with eachother. after stopping at a stop sign or traffic light the car has a very hard time accelerate and catching up to speed. The rpm’s while driving also accelerate its self from time to time causing the car to pick up speed drastically unless I step on the break pedal to slow it down. My car is basically a death trap waiting to happen and this is not okay for my safety as well as others on the road.

Left front axle shaft needed replacement (warranty) on 06/01/2018 at 87104 miles due to loud clicking noise. Replacement part # 52123739AF.

06/01/2018 at 87,104 miles the PTO/PTU was replaced (warranty) due to 4LOW not being available and, once forced into 4LOW, could not be taken back to normal. New part # 68307403AC. Exact cause was not explained, but it 99% likely to be a failed seal letting oil into the electronic control and actuator compartment. 08/19/2022 at 106.582 miles the PTO/PTU diagnosed with faulty internal bearing for the rear driveshaft, causing grinding noises and eventually risking catastrophic failure. Replaced 02/15/2023 at ~107500 miles. New part # 68307403AG. This was all at my expense - over $3500. Jeep refused to cover anything even thought the part had lasted less than 20K miles and has been revised four times (version AC to AG since the first replacement).

The electronic parking brake module was damaged due and corroded, due to water, leading to the Jeep being unable to disengage the parking brake. The module is located in the rear of the trunk and no other signs of water were present when inspected. All of the Jeeps safety systems were effected by the module, the dash board had two lights indicated “P!” And “brake.” The module was replaced by CDR Fullerton in Somerville. The vehicle was inspected by Jeep in Somerville and they were able to reproduce the problem. The vehicle has never been subjected to any type of water damage before. The issue started while driving on a local road when the ebrake automatically engaged resulting in loss of power. After pulling over and starting restarting the car I was able to drive the car home. However, the problem reoccurred many times and we were unable to use the car until the dealership was able to fix it.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH with the cruise control activated and going downhill, the vehicle started to accelerate independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he depressed the brake pedal and stopped the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission fluid to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the power transfer unit (PTU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway and turned off the vehicle. The contact waited until the vehicle cooled down, and the vehicle restarted after several attempts. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer and the dealer stated that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 77,000.

While in drive my parking brake engaged all of a sudden. I tried to disengage and it would not. A scanner was brought and the car would not even talk to it. I tried settings on my dash to disengage parking brake and it brought up error. My car had to be put on a flatbed. I was told they found water on left back side where my parking module was and they have ordered the part. I have read several complaints on this same exact situation.

The vehicle keeps loosing power, everything has been tested battery wise it not the battery. It’s acting like it’s not getting fuel. This started 3/28/23, between 40 and 60 vehicle shakes and is hesitant to go. Vehicle will jerk badly and clunk. While the check engine light starts flashing. When codes are check they are for power loss & failure.

Everytime I fill up, the car acts like the transmission is faulty. Tried to die when stopping, barely runs. On dash warning says to have transmission serviced. I have to drive approximately 6 miles, restart the engine, then it's fine. Happens everytime. Took it to the Bossier city, la. Dealership and they wanted to sell me a transmission job. I informed them of others with same problem and the said they never heard of that problem.

The contact owns 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH the electronic parking brake suddenly activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who informed the contact of water intrusion into the electronic braking system which caused the electronic braking system to malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle restarted and operated normally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000.
