2014 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

My 2014 Jeep has been experiencing intermittent shut downs, the dash goes dead at random times for a few seconds and then comes back on the issue continues. This issue started in December 2021 during that time I was driving at night and the dash, exterior lights and interior lights started flickering. Now this issue occurs 90% of the time when I drive, sometimes when the dash goes off different warning lights come on, TCS, SRS, Power steering and if the vehicle is traveling below 5mph it sometimes dies completely. Battery was replaced 1 year ago. The middle screen on the dash gets super dim and it appears to still be on if you look closely at night but the dials are frozen at the current speed and rpm. My mechanic tested the battery connection and there is nothing loose that would cause this.

There was a tire pressure warning light illuminated. The police arrived on the scene and duck-taped the hood down. There was no police report file that the contact was aware of. The contact and her husband then arrived on the scene and drove the vehicle to their residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate and jerk upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shut off without warning, while driving at various speeds. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where they were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The dealer informed her that the clutch memory code was cleared; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had yet to be notified about the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I was pulling out onto a main road and my car started to thump and grinding so I couldn’t accelerate to the speed I needed to so I immediately took it to Club auto service in Redford mi and he told me my transfer case wasn’t working properly which is right seeing as I only have 80,000 miles before it messed up my 4wD light came on a few times saying it needed service but then went away…. But I did look into and a lot of 2014 jeep Cherokee have been having the same issue I hope something can be done !

Recall was issued stating transmission would shift into neutral while driving. Recall was performed and vehicle is still shifting into neutral just like before the recall was performed. (Recall V69 Reprogram TCM 18V69182)

The parking brake comes or activates for no known reason. I tow this Jeep behind my RV and have had the parking brakes come on while on the highway and streets. It is very dangerous because it causes the jeep to sway left and right making it hard to control the RV. You literally have to stop where ever you are and exit the RV, go to the Jeep and manually unlock the parking brakes. VERY DANGEROUS!!! It has happened numerous times.

the electronic parking brake malfunctions . computer gets wet and brake locks and can not be disengaged

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the electronic braking system locked up. Additionally, while driving, the transmission was slipping and not shifting into gear as designed. The check engine warning light and service transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was sealed and the brake module needed to be replaced, and the connector was wet. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the shifter module, ABS, door module for the driver’s and passenger’s side doors, the instrument cluster, integrated center stack, an electronic parking brake, body control module, steering column, and transmission failure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the dealer also informed him that there were previous unlisted recalls completed on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and confirmed that the warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, provide no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 93,350.

On July 27, 2022, I remote started my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, as I always do and drove off. As I was driving a peep sounded with a quick blinking flash with a P! on my instrument panel. It did that about 8 times and it went away. On July 28, 2022, I again remote started my car and the P! was displayed with Service Park Brake in stored messages. I was able to drive to work, when I parked the parking brake engaged and was unable to manually remove the parking brake. I went into the shifter box and was able to bypass the parking brake and stored messages cleared. As I was driving, all came back on, again slowing down my car. Now I'm unable to bypass e-brake or parking brake. Making my car unusable and unsafe. We went into the trunk and came across water in the side pockets and spare tire area. Looked at the e-brake module and it is corroded, my car has been parked for 4 days. I am afraid of driving my car and having it stop on the highway. The consumer is still experiencing water ingress and can not determine where the water is coming from. There is about 4 inches of water in the spare tire well and side pockets.
