2014 JEEP CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact's grandson owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the power transfer unit (PTU) bolts had detached. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact's grandson that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the 4-wheel drive system not available, service required," warning message would intermittently appear on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed, and the parts were ordered to repair the vehicle. Upon investigation, her husband discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and the contact was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

My 14 jeep had a shift fault pop shift solenoid low voltage inJanuary of 2019. The dealership could not recreat the issue but the code was stored so I paid to replace valve body due to them not being able to fix shift solenoid 2years later and the fault returned went back to dealer ship and they can’t recreate problems and the fault code is in history. There’s a recall for wiring harness not crimped properly which will cause this issue.

I had purchased this 2014 jeep in the summer of 2021, which for the first many months was in the dealership repair shop longer than what I had it in my possession. After my purchase this vehicle immediately started having very strong jerking when hitting the exploratory, and even when attempting to hold a speed. These strong jerks were so strong it would cause your body to jolt forward. The dealership finally threw up their arms and said this was typical of the jeeps, and ignoring the danger. This vehicle has now been sitting in my driveway unable to start for over a month now, and was finally towed to another repair shop, just to learn that the starter is shot and needed to be replaced costing over $600.00 dollars. This vehicle is most definitely a dangerous lemon that it appears that I am stuck with.

I am the sole owner of 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. No miles when purchased. All recalls were kept up, all oil changes were made and vehicle has been taken care of. Without warning, my jeep started not excepting fuel or verily at all. Jeep was taken to the local dealership, that sold me the jeep. The air line that allows for vapor locking was completely filled with sediment and mud. After investigation by the dealer they the line had allowed for sediment and mud to overflow into the gas tank line, plugging it. I am now looking at a $2,000 repair bill to replace the air line and my gas tank as there is no way according to the dealer to get the sediment out because of the blockages. The air line and tank are in line with the back wheel well so it is poor manufacturing placement for this on the jeep and even if I do fix it, it will do it again in the future because of the way it was built. No warning lights, no recalls or help so from the Jeep company. Fortunately in my case I was not traveling and was within distance of the dealer otherwise it would have left me and my family stranded.

The fuel tank has an abnormal amount of seepage. When filling with 87 octane gasoline, intermittently shortly after filling, the cars engine will completely stall while in motion. Also afterwards it may have trouble starting or be unable to start at all until waiting many minutes.

Front lower control arm bushings and front and rear sway bar bushings are cracked.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH and passing another vehicle, the transmission inadvertently shifted into neutral. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. Then the contact shifted to drive and continued to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and as she attempted to shift to drive, the vehicle downshifted to a lower gear. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the failure was related to an unknown recall and to take the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the repair would be completed at her expense because the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 31,500.

The PTU failed on a well maintained 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The vehicle is available anytime for inspection upon request. My safety and others safety is at risk based on a very large scale of reports and articles regarding bad PTU for this vehicle. The SVC 4WD warning light came on my vehicle and the 4x4 system is not working. I took the vehicle to a Jeep dealership. The Jeep dealership performed a diagnostic and inspection of the vehicle and determined that this vehicle has a bad PTU. The dealership gave me a quote of $3,900 to replace the bad PTU.

The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who discovered that raw fuel would enter the charcoal canister due to a defective liquid air separator located on top of the fuel tank. The contact was also informed that the separator could not be replaced separately, and the entire fuel tank would need to be replaced. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure on two occasions and a complaint was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
