10/20/2025 I was driving my sons car because he told me the car transmission locked up on him while he was driving 65MPH on highway, and sure enough it did it to me. I took it to Davis Moore Jeep Dealership and they told me the TCM needed to be replaced ($1,200.00 out of pocket), so on 10/25/25 the TCM was replaced 10/26/25 we picked car up after work was done and not even 4 miles from dealership the car locked up again, but this time it had to be towed back to dealership. today 11/04/25 dealership told us the PCM is out qand needs replaced and it would be $4k out of pocket. Now this problem happened on the highway at 65MPH and a student driving and could have been bad luckily there was no one on road yet. The TCM and PCM have both had recalls done advising to reprogram both components which have been done and now Jeep Car Care says there is nothing they can do.

We have had the vehicle inspected by 2 different mechanics, both confirming our PTU is failing. My wife and I have a toddler and this is our only vehicle; while we’re driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to get groceries sometimes the car will start flashing “ESC off” and will stop while we’re driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while we’re going 10mph and happened going 40mph. Of course this puts not only us as risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if our car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. Again, this issue has been confirmed my two separate independent service centers and two separate dates. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, insurance representatives, or police except for the two separate mechanics we took our vehicle to. 1 week before this issue began the ESC off button started flashing which we immediately took it to the repair shop a few days later and was diagnosed with a failing PTU. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive and each time we drive it — it feels like a death sentence.

Last year in 2024 our vehicle started having significant issues with the transmission. We took it to a dealership and through our warranty that we purchased, we were told that the transmission control module had lost its programming but no one understood why. It wasn't covered under our warranty and we paid full price out of pocket for that. Less than a year later we are back with the same issues again where it's not holding on to its programming. It locks itself into neutral when we are driving, it will have surges of power with the battery, and no longer has any emergency braking system. We cannot put the emergency brake on in fact. We lost all of our 4x4 variations such as snow sport and four wheel drive low. Full drive is no longer able to be engaged at all with the transmission. It will not shift in or out of 5th gear which means every time we push on the gas that means it's going to be starting out in 5th gear which is obviously a strain on the transmission. Due to that it has no towing power whatsoever right now. It has shut off completely in the middle of us driving bfore. These issues are causing it to slowly lose it's communication with all of the other modules in the vehicle and the engine itself is no longer communicating with the transmission which makes driving the vehicle almost impossible.

Electronic parking brake engages at random. Gauge info shows “P” with a circle warning, as well as “brake” in red. Says “4wd system unavailable”. Parking brake module has water/corrosion at connection terminal. Parking brake switch by gear shifter flashing constantly. Car will drive fine then will not move when attempting to go later, had to leave on side of road until it could be towed recently. Extremely frustrating and upsetting. This needs recalled as dealership says it costs $1000’s and requires reprogramming. Now left with a Jeep I can not drive and can not afford to fix.

Vehicle experienced a sudden no-start condition in July 2025 after being parked for ~2 weeks. Engine cranked briefly, then shut off and displayed a red immobilizer warning. OBD-II scans showed BCM memory faults (B22A9), immobilizer lockout (P0513), CAN-C bus communication errors, and repeated low-voltage codes. Dealer replaced PCM (~$1,550) but vehicle still inoperative. Dealer then determined BCM (Body Control Module, part #68141881AJ) failed, but part has been discontinued by Mopar and is unavailable nationwide. Used BCMs are VIN-locked, leaving no authorized repair path. Vehicle is also subject to NHTSA Recall 23V338000 (power liftgate module electrical short / parasitic drain). My vehicle showed repeated low-voltage events consistent with this defect, which likely corrupted the BCM and immobilizer system. Dealer confirmed recall parts are still backordered. As a result, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with only ~32,000 miles has been rendered permanently inoperable due to discontinued safety-critical electronics. The defect creates a substantial safety risk because electrical shorts can occur while parked or driving, and owners are left without remedy.

Battery drains when vehicle is off and not running. If not fully charged the alternator will overwork and not be able to charge the battery for the length of the drive causing the battery to go dead while driving.

Rear tires locked up in reverse. While in gear they lock up randomly. Car shut off and broke down while driving on expressway and lost control. No accident but could’ve been bad. 4x4 light on says svc. Mechanic says shows signs of new safety recall 02C? Talked to Jeep dealership and they weren’t aware of such recall on this model. Need help on who to contact and what to do.

While driving through a local street the car stopped and the message on dash board would inform the driver to put the car in park, turn off the car, and start again. This happened approximately 15 times when approaching stop lights, stop signs or going lowered that 20 miles per hour. This also suggested that battery was low. However, the battery level read normal every time.
