2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

I am reporting a suspected odometer fraud involving a vehicle I purchased from a licensed dealership approximately one year ago. At the time of purchase, the vehicle’s odometer displayed about 64,000 miles. The dealership paperwork and sales documents also listed the mileage as approximately 64,000 miles, and I relied on this information when purchasing the vehicle. After the purchase, the vehicle was financed through my bank and the title was processed by the lender. When the bank received the title documentation, the mileage listed on the title was 101,985 miles. This indicates a discrepancy of nearly 40,000 miles between the mileage represented at the time of sale and the mileage recorded on the title. Key details: * Odometer at purchase: approximately 64,000 miles * Mileage listed on dealership paperwork: approximately 64,000 miles * Mileage listed on title received by lender: 101,985 miles * Current odometer reading: approximately 73,000 miles This discrepancy suggests the possibility that the vehicle was sold with inaccurate mileage disclosure or that the odometer may have been rolled back before the sale. The inaccurate mileage may also create a safety risk because vehicle maintenance schedules rely on accurate mileage. If the vehicle had already exceeded 100,000 miles, important maintenance or inspections may have been delayed or missed, which could increase the risk of mechanical failure while driving. The issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center because it was discovered through documentation rather than mechanical inspection. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives regarding this issue. There were no warning lights or mechanical symptoms before the discrepancy was discovered. A copy of the paperwork from the dealer can be provided at a later date.

The Hood Ajar message stays on and then the service auto start/stop unavailable message comes on. Hood is actually closed and this warning is incorrect but will have to stop car to try and reset it. Hood latch was replaced. First time did not fix it. Took it back and dealership did something else to fix.

THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND SEVERAL OTHERS THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED, HAVE A CENTER CONSOLE CUPHOLDER THAT IS TRIMMED IN CHROME. THE CHROME IS PEELING ON BOTH CUPHOLDERS AT THE EDGES AND EXTREMELY SHARP AND HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN CUT AND CAUSING LACERATIONS AND BLEEDING.

The contact stated that the vehicle had been running rough and idling roughly prior to the warning light becoming illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed, and DTC: P0302 (Misfire in cylinder #2) was retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,147.

It was cold out and my sister was driving my car with the heated seats on when she started to smell fire as well as her back got really hot. She pulled over and leaned forward and discovered a flame/fire coming through the seat back. She burned my hand and had visible ash on it trying to put the fire out. There is now a hole in the seat back from where the fire burned through.

The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump module and valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 188,000.

There have been several issues that have occured over the course of the last 3-4 years . Just this winter alone , i have had my 4wd serv needed maintenance , the air conditioning doest get cold the heater doesnt heat up , i have checkee fluids && cleaned necessary components , i have checked all fuses . My vehicle seems to start most of it's issues once the temperature starts to his below 30degrees F . Tthermostat , ABS light had just turned on recently , unable to add gasoline to tank .airbag light for service , changed both batteries but no changes in performance, tire pressure sensor does not read even with correct amoount, parking sensor , rear view camera visibility blurry , driver side window rolls up with down && down for up . Power loss , battery drainage , headlight harness wont allow any bulb to light up , . I have done all necessary procedures in order to verify all issues , scanner wont reset or delete any old codes . Battery removal has no effeft in change . All these mechnical , electrical && suspensiom issues , have occured making vehicle unoperable through out majority of the year . About 6-8 months out of 12 . Way too many issues for me to rememeber , let alone list on here . The whole vehicle has unfortunately been nothing but a big maintainence issue .

I used my cruise control on the highway and once I turned it off my Jeep began vibrating a lot. My Jeep now vibrates all of the time when I accelerate. I took it to the shop and had over $2,200 in work done and they are unable to find the specific reason that it is vibrating when I accelerate and stated it likely to due to something with the transfer case. After hours of non stop research I discovered that the issue that I am having is exactly like the Stellantis 01C issue but I am not finding my Jeep under the recall list. I also had an issue where my oil cooler housing unit was cracked and had to be replaced because it is made out of plastic.

On January 3, 2026, I test drove a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee (VIN [XXX] ) from a franchised Jeep dealership in Lewiston, Idaho. After the test drive, the vehicle was placed on a lift and it was discovered that the front driver-side lower ball joint was missing a retaining bolt, allowing separation from the lower control arm. This condition created an immediate risk of suspension failure and loss of control while driving on public roads. The contact owns 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was then taken to Firestone, where the contact was informed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000(Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,767.
